Hi,
I’ve noticed that someone can be logged into a website from two different computers using the same user name and password. Is there a way to have it so to only allow one login per member at a time?
I can’t keep members from sharing their credentials, but would like to be able to only allow one login per member at a time.
Thanks
June 9, 2012 at 1:03 am #46005IvyMemberMaybe the following feature in the eMember will be of some help for this issue.
Login Restriction by IP Address
If the number of login attempts from different IP addresses exceed this limit then the member’s account will be locked. Leave this field empty to disable this feature.
You can enable this feature from eMember’s settings menu.
June 9, 2012 at 7:06 pm #46006primatedMemberIf a member gives their credentials to someone else, then they can easily login with one attempt.
If I’m logged in and I click on login again the plugin in tells me that I’m logged in and gives me a few details about my account. Maybe it’s a future feature, but since the plugin already knows that you are logged in, it couldn’t be hard to have it check to see if you’re already logged in when you login.
There should be a way to not allow concurrent logins with the same set of credentials.
June 9, 2012 at 9:45 pm #46007nurMemberWordPress allows multiple logins from different locations so we allow it in emember too. As an extra layer of control, emember has ip based restriction. this serves the purpose for the most part. however we’ll investigate and see if introducing login restriction like this causes inconsistent behavior with wordpress system or not. if it doesn’t then we may consider adding it.

Members of our site do not have a login to any of the wordpress functions, just our premium content. Also with a membership for premium content why you want the same member logged in twice at the same time? If that was the case, then they are likely to be sharing their credentials. If they forgot to logout at the office, they probably wouldn’t be making that mistake again.
Since the plugin knows that you are logged it, as evidenced when you click on login again on the same machine, could it be an easy thing to kill the first login, if the same credentials are used from another IP address?
I believe that this is an essential feature for any membership site with paid members and premium content as it gives a layer of security not onl;y to the site owner, but also the members.
Thanks
