Is there a manual that explains how to do things with this software. (eMember.) It is taking me forever to find more info for each step that may go wrong for me. Right now I need to collect email at login for free membership. I don’t have that on this form. Can I just aweber to this? I don’t want to but I was just about to because I can’t figure out how to change it. Then I need different info at registration for paid membership. Like address, phone number and so on.
When I do find the answers it is usually something simple- I end up kicking myself. This makes me a little frustrated because I can’t figure some of these things out myself. That is why I would love a manual or more videos. Is there any thing out there? As soon as I figure this out I have to set up the estore and get some advertisements out. Any pdf’s to make this faster. Going back to the site is starting to become a drag.
Thanks for the help.

I don’t use a PDF document because I actively develop these plugins so the instructions go out of date as soon as I release an updated version of the plugin. Having it online makes me update the documentation easily and it forces everyone to look at the latest documentation rather than the old one that you have lying on your computer.
Remember, I give the updated version of the plugins to the existing customers for free so it is important that everyone is following the latest documentation.
I do agree that not having a video tutorial kind of sucks for some users but I really didn’t get time to create the video tutorials (sorry for this). I have this on my to do list and will put some video tutorials out in a few weeks.
With that said, let me see what’s holding you up and address them so you can get going.
You pretty much just have to go to the settings menu and go through each option and do what it tells you to in the help text.
Please post it here when you can’t figure something out.

I agree with Manny I am in a mess with this plug in. I am back and forth between your tutorials and my site and making absolutely no progress. It is frustrating and a horrific waste of my valuable time. I have already paid for this to be set up – but still do not have a membership site that is working – if I want to give everything away free that works..but you know what I dont. I want to have free and I want Gold where only those members can get the downloads. When I set up protect content -NO ONE can get in even me. So I untick it and that means anyone can access it?????
I am happy to pay for someone to get this thing working and get this monkey off my back. When I paid for the setup I had already installed it -I just wanted the thing to work.
Perhaps you could offer a more customized setup support that we could purchase.
Ok…right now I want to know – CAN I CUSTOMISE THE REGISTRATION BOX. In other words can I take our the word FREE and put in GOLD. If so HOW what is the code [wp_eMember_registration_form:end] that makes that ONE BIT work the way I want it to?
From that maybe I can work out this plug in and get back to my own work.

September 24, 2010 at 11:11 pm #16858janmarieMemberHi there
I finally got it to work. I found an old post from Ivy giving the client a piece of code so the Registration box would state WHICH membership level it was.
THAT WAS ALL I NEEDED….so where in your tutorials do you mention this. I did not see it anywhere and it was the one thing I needed to make this plug in work for me. I have just spent weeks trying to get this thing to work, making a proper mess as I changed this and that trying to get it to work…then not knowing what I began with.
Perhaps this is something you need to make very clear.
Cheers

If you just browse to the “registration” page without clicking the “registration completion” link you will just get the “Free” membership option as you haven’t paid so you are not allowed to signup for any other membership level.
So the payment is the trigger. As soon as a member makes a payment and clicks on the unique link sent to them the registration form will state the correct membership level that they paid for. Does this make sense?
