I’d like to create additional fields for my members. But, I’m not sure if it would be okay to modify the DB structure to add these fields. I’m working on a community site, and I’d like to include items such as favorite movie, favorite food, etc. If I add DB fields, will it still be easy to upgrade in the future?
I do have it set to create WP members at registration. And, I’m working with WPMU and BuddyPress. So, I thought of possibly just going through BP to add the additional fields. Any thoughts or insights on which would be better? Thanks!
Modifying the DB table is always going to cause you issues during upgrade. You can maybe write another script that applies your DB changes after every upgrade. I don’t use buddypress so can’t really tell you which one would be the best.
Okay, no worries. Thanks for the reply.
