I need to migrate my Simple Membership users into WP eMember.
Unfortunately it appears that the Import WP Users function is going to reset everyone’s Subscription Starts From date.
How can I migrate my users from Simple Membership to WP eMember while preserving the important data, such as Access Starts, Member Since and Expiry Date?
We don’t have any pre-set option for this unfortunately. After you import the users, you can maybe use the following bulk update “start date” option to set a start date on a per membership level basis:
How to Bulk Update Member’s Start Date and Membership Level with WP eMember
It won’t be perfect but maybe you can set something that gives them access then slowly adjust things over time.
Migration with a lot of existing users is always a difficult process. If you have existing subscription payments, then those won’t work automatically since payment gateways won’t let you change the existing subscription agreement parameters.
I don’t have subscriptions or recurring payments, thankfully. So that isn’t an issue.
But I do have >1000 users, and resetting all of their expiry dates will either be unfair to them or a significant financial loss for me.
I am a bit confused. Are not the Simple Membership Plugin and WP eMember Plugin plugins created by the same company?
Would it not work to use Member Data Exporter Addon for Simple Membership and the Bulk Member Data Importer Addon for the WP eMember?
These are completely separate plugins with completely different database table structures. It will need a custom developed script to handle that kind of migration.
Anything that we don’t advertise on our WP eMember’s feature list, don’t expect it to be there. I will send you an email for it.
