I setup eMember and eStore to work together. I installed the eStore Members Only Download Button and activated it.
I added a new product for Journal 128. I uploaded the file 201712J128b.pdf to the media directory and everything worked fine.
I put the file in the wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/downloads/ folder.
I put this [http://white-familyhistory.info/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/downloads/201712J128b.pdf] as the link in the download field for the product.
I went to Admin Functions and generated an encrypted download link. I do not know if I was supposed to do something with it.
I put this shortcode [wp_eStore_fancy_display id=”5″ style=”1″ restriction=”2-3-4-5-6|4|1″] on my Journals page.
When I access the page and click on the download button.
I am given the option to open or download the file.
When I click on open I receive a page with this message
Couldn’t open PDF
Something’s keeping this PDF from opening.
Go back to the last page
What have done wrongly or not done?
thank you

That message is most likely coming from your browser.
- Which browser and version are you using?
- What happens if you select “Download” instead?
February 18, 2018 at 5:08 pm #77325ChalkySpectatorI have tried with Microsoft Edge 41.16299.248.0 and Internet Explorer 11
Sorry it was open or save.
I tried both.
When I saved the file and then tried to open it, I got the same message
Couldn’t open PDF
Something’s keeping this PDF from opening.
Regards

Those are Microsoft Edge/Explorer errors, and are not coming from any of our plugins. Could you please try using another browser? Also, as for getting the error(s) after saving a PDF, please try opening the file(s) with something besides Edge/Explorer; like the free Adobe PDF viewer.

February 19, 2018 at 8:45 am #77327ChalkySpectatorI have tried opening the file in Adobe Acrobat and I received an error message stating that it couldn’t open it because it was a damaged file or it hadn’t been decoded properly.
The software being used to open the file is reporting the error but the problem is caused be the file not downloading properly.
If I use the link to the file on the website it opens properly, but when I use the plugin to download the file, that is when the file fails to download properly. What needs to be done.

Please go through this checklist to ensure that none of these conditions exist:
