member since date import

I’m in the process of testing importing members from another website database. It’s going very well except for the “member since” date. On my existing database, the member since date is in dd/mm/yy format. When I try using the custom format function in Excel to change the format to yyyy-mm-dd, this changes the display of the date in the cell, but not the stored number in excel. When I try to import the date in dd/mm/yy format using csv to DB import in emember, the date field is not imported and the field is 0000-00-00. I know that I can change the date in the Add/Update member field in WP-admin, but there are 1000 members.

If I can figure out a way to get the excel field changed to yyyy-mm-dd format, will the import program import the date? Or is the member since day system generated?

The date value needs to be in “yyyy-mm-dd” format when adding to eMember database otherwise it won’t work.
