Hello,
MailChimp is saying they will shut me down if I don’t hard code the API method. They say…
• Are you using a plugin for your WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, Magento, etc. site? If so, make sure you’ve upgraded to the most recent version, then ask the developers of it if they’ve fixed their code. If the code is publicly available, we can also take a look at it if you post the details of it in the API Google Group
You can fix this by:
1. Hard coding an API Key into your code (that’s what login() returns anyway) and you are likely done – get an API Key here
2. Use the new OAuth2 support
Once your use of the login() method ceases, we will stop contacting you about this.
I think they mean they want me to use my key instead of my list name and password. eStore and Affiliate have fields for the API key but eMember does not.
I’m using eMember, eStore, WP Affiliate and other rockin’ T&T plugins…
Am I missing something? like an update?
Cheers, Pam
November 16, 2011 at 12:14 am #38520adminKeymasterMailChimp just started this yesterday. They want you to use the API Key option rather than the normal “username” and “password” option. We have updated our plugin(s) so that an API Key can be specified.
Get a new build of the plugin(s) from here and you will see the API Key option in the settings:

November 16, 2011 at 11:08 am #38522PamelaMemberHey again,
I updated eMember only and a new member applying gets this…
reCAPTCHA™ service encountered error. please Contact Admin.
It does add the new member nonetheless.
This (among other things) was just fixed for me when Ivy helped me earlier in the week (same site access details still apply). All was working wonderfully before I updated.
Everything else seems to be working fine. I’m going to disable the reCaptcha option for the day so I don’t lose folks trying to register. so you won’t see the error when you try to recreate. Perhaps I can connect when we are both up. I’m on EST.
I’m sure I must have done something wrong but I did try to follow http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/wp-emember-installation-upgrade-instructions-3 to the letter!
November 16, 2011 at 10:22 pm #38523adminKeymasterInternet Explorer running in native mode is known to cause this problem with reCAPTCHA library. Is the user who got this error using Internet Explorer?
November 17, 2011 at 7:36 am #38524PamelaMemberYes, however it is not occurring with WP Affiliate just eMember. I did not install the new build of WP Affiliate yesterday, just eMember.
I fully tested my site before and after loading the new build using IE. The error occurred after installing the new build. It was not occurring before.
November 17, 2011 at 10:42 pm #38525adminKeymasterOkay sent you an email so I can jump on your site and check it out.
November 18, 2011 at 6:20 am #38526adminKeymasterI tested the registration process on your site with captcha enabled without any issue. I have done this testing on IE, Firefox and Chrome without any issue.
I am pretty sure this was a case of your server not being able to communicate to the reCAPTCHA server in order to validate the captcha at that time so your user saw that error. In order for reCAPTCH to work the captch library needs to be able to connect to the Google’s captcha server and complete the verification process and the error you mentioned does look like what you get when that connect fails. Check to make sure your server doesn’t have any firewals that is blocking outgoing connection to the reCAPTCHA server.
November 23, 2011 at 10:39 am #38527PamelaMemberThanks so much for all the work you did behind the scenes. All working fine now. I really appreciate it!
Pam
