I was wondering if I need to set both settings in the system to use mail chimp as there are two forms, it would seem common sense to use only one, but so far its not working so just curious, using the API and list feature in estore
November 23, 2011 at 10:30 pm #38800PeterMemberHi,
Is your setup such that you are adding customers to a particular membership level based on a product purchase and then you also want to add them to your mailchimp list?
The easiest way to do this is to configure your mailchimp details in the “Autoresponder Settings” of the eMember plugin Settings page. Here you will specify your mailchimp list name but you can override this list with another mailchimp list in each of your membership level settings too. (You can leave the mailchimp settings in the eStore plugin blank)
Then you can link your products in eStore to your memberships levels via the “Reference Text” field of your product configuration in the “Additional Product Details” section.
So when someone buys a product they are then added to your eMember level which in turn adds them to your mailchimp list.
Let us know if your scenario differs from this or you’re still having issues.
November 23, 2011 at 11:07 pm #38801reelstuffMemberThanks, I was reading in another post where someone talked about using a squeeze page, but that would not be a good fit, I have setup the product level setting, with the global field blank but the check box checked, (I’m guessing that may be necessary but cant find anything on it in the docs) its interesting, I also setup a double opt in, so I get that email and click on it, oddly if you do not have that option checked the process never completes, I will study this in more detail to see if I can find a method of letting the user know they are being added to the mailing list, I would think that option would be a good thing in the registration form, (preferably a pre-checked check box for (also signup for the product update list) or some such thing.
November 23, 2011 at 11:19 pm #38802PeterMemberDon’t forget that mailchimp informs your clients that they are being added to the list. My understanding is that anti-spam regulations dictate that people will have to click a “Subscribe” button to be added to the mailchimp list.
November 24, 2011 at 1:37 am #38803adminKeymasterYou can check the “Disable Double Opt-In” checkbox in eStore’s mailchimp settings to disable the standard double opt-on practice (be warned that MailChimp will block your account if you abuse it).
