Here’s the website: [http://bit.ly/ZJXlqk]
I have an issue with my videos not playing on my Android tablet, but they play on my Samsung S3 Android phone.
On my tablet I get a no flash error. Originally my phone didn’t work either but then it started working.
I am using the S3 shortcodes except in 1 instance I have html5(which works) but I need to use S3 with protected videos. I don’t know if my terminology is correct, but to me protected video uses the keys and I don’t have an everyone permission. Unprotected would be having an everyone permission. Although the keys are filled in on the Lightbox settings. I don’t know if either one makes a difference.
Any ideas why I’m having these issues? I’m hoping I gave enough info and links.
Thanks.
April 9, 2013 at 10:27 pm #54975wpCommerceModeratorHi, your are right. Api keys are required if you are using a
s3 protected
shortcode. A s3 protected shortcode can play a video which is not accessible by everyone. However, if you wish to play an unprotected video you can just use a normal “MP4 Display” shortcode (either flowplayer or html5):Currently the plugin doesn’t have built-in support for android tablet (only iPhone, iPad, Android Mobile). So you might need to use our html5 protected shortcode (it’s not listed in the documentation anymore).
Shortcode for Anchor Text:
[wp_lightbox_html5_anchor_text_protected_s3_video name="test.mp4" bucket="mybucket" width="640" height="480" text="click here to open the s3 protected video"]
Shortcode for Anchor Image:
[wp_lightbox_html5_protected_s3_video name="test.mp4" bucket="mybucket" width="640" height="480" source="http://example.com/images/anchor-image.jpg"]

Thanks.
April 10, 2013 at 3:15 am #54977wzpModeratorI suspect the Androids on which you are able to view the videos are older versions of Android, which still have Flash installed on them; and that the others are newer versions, that no longer support Flash.
April 10, 2013 at 3:27 am #54978JBattinMemberMy tablet has 4.1.1 and phone has 4.0.4
April 10, 2013 at 4:35 am #54979JBattinMemberOK My husbands tablet is 4.0.4 and it works on his. And I just noticed it does have flash on it. Mine is a newer model so I’m sure that’s why mine doesn’t have flash.
Now to get it to work without flash would be awesome!
April 10, 2013 at 4:04 pm #54980wzpModeratorGoogle the word: MediaCoder
It is a freeware/nagware program that will transcode your Flash videos to any other format you desire. I use it all the time.
April 10, 2013 at 4:07 pm #54981JBattinMemberI have software that can encode but I don’t know what format to go to that will work.
April 11, 2013 at 12:27 am #54982wpCommerceModeratorHi, ideally it should be a H264 encoded mp4 video. This page has some resources for encoding a video:
The shortcodes I listed above play videos using a HTML5 player. So it should work fine on a device that doesn’t support flash.
April 15, 2013 at 5:26 pm #54983JBattinMemberSorry, I know you probably thought you were through with this subject, but I was out for the last 4 days.
My videos are all encoded h264. I had a problem with the code for the s3 html5 which is why it still didn’t work, but it’s fixed now. On my Android tablet and phone it now opens up the player but when I try to play, it just spins and never plays the video. It plays right away on my PC (after I click on the play button). Any ideas why?
Also, I have enabled all of the autoplays on the settings but it still doesn’t autoplay for this one. Do you know why?
Thanks.
April 15, 2013 at 11:04 pm #54984wpCommerceModeratorHi, Did you check the “Video 1” section of the above post?
April 16, 2013 at 1:47 am #54985JBattinMemberYes I tested with that video, but it didn’t make a difference. On the Androids it never plays. I used 1 of the tools on that list and another one, XMedia Encode, and on the PC I still have to press play, but it plays. I thought maybe there’s something else I need to do for the S3 HTML5 format?
Thanks.
