Hi,
I followed the 2 guides on how to allow my website’s visitor to download a video (.mp4) that is private/protected in my AWS S3 account. However, when the text link is clicked, it actually opens (and plays) the video, instead of asking the user to save the file to his/her computer.
I followed 2 guides.
This is the link to the FIRST guide:
where it says to do the following short code
[wp_lightbox_anchor_text_secure_s3_file_download name=”test-video.mp4″ bucket=”my-video-container” text=”Click here to download the s3 file”]
The other (SECOND guide I found is on this link:
where it says to do the following short code
[wp_lightbox_anchor_text_secure_s3_file_download link=”https://s3.amazonaws.com/my-video-container/h264-encoded-video.mp4″ text=”Click here to download the s3 file”]
I’m confused which guide to follow SO I tried both methods. But the results are the same. It opened and played the .mp4 file instead of saving the file.
How to resolve this? And can you please let me know which method between the two is more secured (updated) so visitors won’t have access to the original URL?
Thanks.
September 4, 2017 at 6:16 am #76364wpCommerceModeratorHi, The instructions are still the same. However, the first one will not be updated anymore since we moved our Lightbox Ultimate documentation here:
Please provide a link to the page in question so I can investigate this issue.

September 5, 2017 at 11:30 pm #76369adminKeymasterI went to your URL and clicked on the download link. It shows me the dolphin video correctly.
As far as I can see, it is working fine.
September 6, 2017 at 1:05 am #76370SonicMemberHi,
But it should not load the video, right? It’s supposed to download the video (like asking the user where to save the file in his/her computer)?
The goal is to give the user the download button/text. And when the user clicks on it, it will download the file to his/her computer (not watch the video on the browser).
September 6, 2017 at 7:10 am #76371wpCommerceModerator@Sonic, We need to take a closer look at your site to investigate this issue. I have sent an email to your registered email address for site access. Let me know if you don’t receive it.
