Ok so i have just had an SSL Certificate installed to my website with no problems.
In mozilla firefox my secure pages now show a blue browser bar when you visit.
In google chrome my secure pages now show a green padlock followed by a green https when you visit.
Safari doesnt change anything apart from having https instead of http on my secure pages.
However the problem i am having is, when i activate WP Lightbox Ultimate, mozilla firefox no longer shows a blue browser bar on my secure pages, and google chrome doesnt show a green padlock and https, it shows a caution sign on the padlock, and when clicked it says “the page is secure however, there a resources on the page which are not secure”, which would have to be the lightbox plugin.
I have disabled all my plugins and tested the lightbox plugin alone and the same still happens, right now i have disabled the lightbox plugin and everything is as it should be with no issues at all.
I have eMember and eStore plugins which work just fine, its only Lightbox plugin that seems to have a problem, possibly with security.
Can you update the plugin to fix the issue or is there something i can do to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks, carl
April 7, 2012 at 3:35 am #43824wpCommerceModeratorHi, could you post a link to the page where you are having this issue?
Please also keep the Lightbox Ultimate plugin activated for now So I can see which element is making it insecure.
April 7, 2012 at 11:50 pm #43825webfireworxMemberI seem to have fixed the problem, although im still not entirely sure what was causing it.
Basically my frontpage was a static page with blog posts, one of my posts shown the full post content on the frontpage, in the post content i was using the lightbox plugin shortcode for the thumbnail video link which was when i was getting the problem.
After removing the post everything worked just fine, so i assumed it was the shortcode or embed code for the video within the shortcode and not actually the plugin itself, but the strange thing was, i decided not to use a static page but instead use the wordpress default frontpage display which displays latest posts only.
After changing to the default frontpage i added the same post with the shortcode for the thumbnail video link in and shown the post content on the frontpage, i expected the same problem but this time everything was perfect, which confused me.
So i could only assume the shortcodes or embed codes within the shortcodes are conflicting with a static page when used as a frontpage, but only when its a secure frontpage.
I cant supply a link anymore to outline the problem as since i removed the secure static frontpage, wordpress no longer allows me to use a static page as a frontpage if its secure, therefore i dont have a problem with it anymore.
Sorry if ive not explained very well, its the best way i can describe it as its a little confusing, but my problem is solved none the less, you just might want to use this as a small heads up for now.
Thanks for being patient and taking the time to read,
Carl
April 8, 2012 at 12:26 am #43826wpCommerceModeratorYou’re welcome.
The plugin is not including any external script that might be insecure. But when you use a shortcode please make sure that the parameter (for example: link, source) that requires a full URL have
https
in it. Having a link containinghttp
in the page could be another reason for this issue.Anyway, I’m glad that the issue is solved.
