I just purchased the Lightbox Ultimate and like the ease of use (I’m not a developer). I have an online membership where members get workout videos. Most of my videos are going to be large mp4 files (10 minute long videos 200 to 500+mb). The video is taking too long to download for the viewer and it stalls at times. This seemed to be the safest way to post videos. Is there anything I can do about the long wait period for the large mp4 files?
I’m currently uploading private videos to Viddler and using the secret code to embed the video, but it’s going to cost too much per month with Viddler as my customer base grows. Here is the address where the video is located:

If you need further info, please let me know. Thanks!

In your case the mp4 file that you are using doesn’t seem to have the critical video information at the header of the video. The following should explain:
The Adobe Flash component cannot start playing a video until it gets some important information about the file. If this information is stored at the END of a MP4 file, the entire video must be downloaded so the player can read that info before it can start playing.
To solve this issue you can move the information to the beginning of the video file.
There are a few free tools out there that you can use to add this fix to your videos.

After you correct your video files test it again and let me know if it helps.
July 24, 2011 at 7:54 pm #34538coachshellieMemberI tried qtiindexswapper and it doesn’t seem to have made a difference. I also tried MP4 Faststarter, but it didn’t appear to be compatible with Windows 7. Every time I tried to convert the video with Faststarter, it turned it into an unrecognizable 67 kb file. However, I was able to convert the file correctly on a friend’s computer which is Windows XP. The file I’m using is very large (714mb). Do you think that it’s just too large?

I compressed the video file with very little decrease in quality and was able to use QT Index Swapper once the file was smaller. The video is up and running and looks great! I still have some things to learn as far as putting up membership-only videos, but this plug-in has made the process much easier. Thank you for your help!
