[Support request] JSON error in eMember fancy login

When I use the eMember fancy login plugin I get the error
Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.

The short code I am using is
[wp_eMember_fancy_login style=”8″ display_account_details=”1″]

If I remove the shortcode the error goes away which implies the problem is in the shortcode but I cannot figure out the issue.
