It is not possible to remove one additional field added through the “Custom Field Setting”.

Moreover, I can not update changes to the previously added box, and can not add a new field. The button “Update options” does not work.

Version WP 3.1.2

It is likely that there are some JQuery conflicts in your WordPress admin side so the Javascript is not working as expected. I will send you an email to get site access and check it out.
