I did some testing of the eMember plugin on my WordPress site and then deleted the test users I created. Of course each “test” user had to have a REAL email address for my testing purposes.
Now it’s a month later and I want to create a NEW ‘test’ user but of course it will not let me use the old email addresses. It says they’re already in use (they are not, but it “remembers” them).
My question is: Is there some way I can go in and delete the old email addresses so I can re-use them when I want to create a “test” user or two?
Thanks for helping.

With that said, it doesn’t remember the email address. When it says that the “email address is already taken” it means that either one of the current member is using it or one of the users in your WordPress users database is using it. People sometimes forget to check the WordPress users table and see if that email address is being used there too (the email address need to be unique in the whole WordPress system). So please go the WordPress users menu and see if any of the users there is using that email address in their profile.

OK, I understand what you said about it not needing a real email address for testing.
But, how would I know that the registrations etc. were actually being sent out if I don’t use a REAL email address for testing? Am I missing something here? That’s why I use real email addresses for testing. So I can be SURE that the messages that are supposed to go out, really ARE going out to the correct email address (for testing).
I don’t have any users in the WP users database except for me (admin), so the second part of what you wrote does not seem to be a big problem for me, I think. I did find that I’d used the same email for admin as I was trying to use for testing so now I won’t do that anymore. Still, how will I test email delivery of eMember notices to new members without using a REAL email address, as I mentioned above? If you could explain that in detail to me, I will try to follow directions!
Thank you again for your help.

August 5, 2011 at 4:55 pm #35121kayMemberIt sounds like as long as the real email address I use for testing (for real) is NOT also one that was or will be used in the WP database, I shouldn’t have any problem, then. In other words, I won’t see that “email address is already taken” message again, I hope.
