Is it possible to use both discount codes & gift voucher on one order?

We want people to be able to use both a discount code and apply a gift voucher on the same order at checkout. Is that possible?

I’m not aware of any potential issues. Why not try a test case, and let us know if it works?

We have tried it and it did not work, which is why I asked. Logically, I think it should because someone could have a discount code and gift certificate (which someone paid for and it’s full value, should be the same as them paying any other way).

Here is the error message we get when we apply the discount first:
You already applied a voucher to this cart. Empty the cart then add items to apply a voucher again.

Here is the error message we get when we apply the Gift Certificate first:
Discount can only be applied once!

So the checkout is treating them both as discounts. Which they are not.

The logical thing for a customer to do is to apply their member discount first, then the gift certificate on the remaining charge. If they were paying through Paypal for the whole thing they would get the discount off the full price, then pay for the remaining. The Gift Voucher should be treated the same as cash (Paypal payment).

Hi we don’t seem to have received an email about this. This is an issue for us. Could you please resend the email? I’m not sure what it is about, is there a solution?

Our thinking and rationale is this…

We provide a coupon code discount for our members
We have gift certificates available for anyone to buy

If a member receives a gift certificate they should be able to purchase a class using their discount coupon because that’s what they get for their membership fee. But they should also be able to use a gift certificate because someone has already paid us the money for that.
