Are the images I upload to Photoseller accessible to search engines? I’ve been naming my files with SEO in mind but they are invisible to a google search, whereas if I put the same image in a standard blog post it is being picked up in a google search. I can’t seem to find any info regarding photeseller/SEO on the forum.
Also I’m wanting to give you a new email address/change the one you have on file but I can’t find an email addy to message you?
Many thanks
David

December 12, 2014 at 3:10 pm #67322soundmanMemberHi, Any answer forthcoming on this? It’s a very valid question, so as to clarify if individual photos that are displayed on the photo details page are accessible to a google image search or not?
Especially in the case of uploading a very large amount of photos, as I need to know whether there is any point in SEO optimizing each photo’s filename prior to upload, which is a huge task. Also it is a decision that has to be made at this stage as wordpress does not allow retro-active changes to image filenames within the media gallery. Some clarification on this either way would be really helpful.
Many thanks

December 13, 2014 at 12:24 am #67323PeterMemberHi,
Currently, due to the fact that the photo details page is generated dynamically, the contents of that page are not really SEO-able.
However, the contents of the main gallery and album pages should be good candidates for SEO.
Not only can you make the URL fully SEO friendly, but you can also use the “alt” attribute for each image. The photo seller plugin automatically populates the “alt” attribute of each photo when it is creating the main gallery thumbnail pages.

December 30, 2014 at 11:42 pm #67325brenda.brendaMemberPlease consider adding a means to use tags on individual photos which are SEO friendly. There is no point in having a website to sell my images if no one can find them. While this software is excellent for organizing and selling the photos, I can’t sell them if no one can find them.
Sorely disappointed and will likely have to find another plugin.
January 3, 2015 at 4:21 am #67326PeterMemberWe are currently in the process of implementing a solution to make the photo details page links for each gallery image, SEO friendly.
For example:
Currently a typical photo details page URL for a gallery’s image looks like this:
Our new implementation will make the photo details page URLs look something like the following:
Note that the new format will include the name of the image, in this example it is “red-rose-garden”.
So if your image filenames are all written with SEO words, eg, red-rose-garden.jpg, the plugin will use the string of the image basename when constructing the SEO URL for the photo details page.
This solution should hopefully be available within a week or 2 at most.
