I have a site that is 2.5 years old. http://www.bisocialnetwork. I have used login plugins so I don’t want them to register again. I want all my members to have free access to all articles. but I want to use the more tag to lock down the full article. In fact, I want all non members to be able to access all articles before the more tag. The members can see all articles. but I will create new pages for premium content if they want access they would have to subscribe to that content.
Is there a video for that? I’m lost with the tutorials with creating free content pages, etc. I don’t get it. That’s if you have a new site, what about us who are migrating? I can’t also login, on the home page. I have to go inside the wp.. my writers can’t post now. again, I’m completely lost on what to do. I really just want the widget to login members in, the current members i need them to connect to the new plugin and just be able to login, what I will add is the levels of pages, and articles later.

Don’t worry about content protection or anything at this stage. You mentioned that you have a lot of existing users… are they all in the WordPress users database? Go to the “Users” menu of WordPress and click on the “users” link. Do you see all your members there?
April 8, 2011 at 2:31 am #31091ajwmediaMemberI don’t know what to do. I can’t get anything to work. I started like the video stated, but I can’t even get the widget to work. I really don’t need the page, just the widget.
regarding the users. yes, I have all: 861, 1 admin, 1 editor, 3 authors, subscribers 856 users in the database of wp…

“Member Registration x
Bookmark Free membership is disabled on this site!”
I’M STARTING AT THE BEGINNING BUT I CAN’T GET IT TO WORK.

April 8, 2011 at 2:40 am #31092ajwmediaMemberduh, okay I imported the members from wp to emembers yeah! I can login… now, how do I start the free memberships for new users? I will be setting up pages for paid…. and I want to block some pages, only for members. but overall I want them to be able to read all content, but only up to the more tag…
April 8, 2011 at 8:53 am #31093amin007ParticipantNow, you need to learn about how the content protection works in eMember. Watch the 5th video from this page to learn how you can selectively protect posts or pages:
Next, learn how to protect the section of a post or page so you can protect part of a page for members only and leave the rest open to everyone:

April 10, 2011 at 7:52 am #31094ajwmediaMemberI got the widget and all to work but a few things…on the free one.
I have writers that need to be upgraded to the higher levels but it’s asking me for passwords info when I try to change them from free to supporter….under the member section. I wouldn’t have any ones password.
and the last thing. I added the gender male and female for registration, but our site needs to add transgender as well and if possible along with sexuality. gay, lesbian, straight, bi, etc. Is this possible?
thanks for your help!
April 10, 2011 at 8:06 am #31095ajwmediaMemberAll the post are checked for non members but I still can gain access when not logged in.. and
Where do I add this shortcode? I want the sections to be blocked partial but the page doesn’t say where this goes?
[emember_protected scope=verified_users_only]
I have over 400 posts, so I know there has to be a short way to d this… thakns
April 10, 2011 at 8:40 am #31096ajwmediaMemberalso I added this.
[emember_protected member_id=2-3-4-5]
[/emember_protected]
if I’m not login it says ‘members only’ if I’m logged in it say ‘restricted content’
April 11, 2011 at 12:45 am #31097amin007ParticipantIf you log in and you get the “restricted content” that means your membership level is not matching with the one that the post is protected for. The post is only accessible to membership levels 2,3,4 and 5. So do the following to troubleshoot, find out the membership level of the member then go to the “Membership Level” and check the membership level ID for the member. What is the ID of the member?
We have recently added the custom field feature to eMember. You can use the custom field feature of eMember to create a custom field in your registration form which can collect the info from the customer. This documentation has more details:
April 11, 2011 at 4:00 am #31098ajwmediaMemberthanks amin007, I see the new fields but how do you add additional records to gender? I need to add transgender. right now it only has male, female and unspecified. I would rather remove that and add transgender.
I will try it out, but regarding protection to article post, but so I have to add this code for all 400 articles? Or is there a one step solution to add protection for all articles posts? I need to update some archived articles anyway, but I would like to do the latest 100 articles if possible. or all of them.. thanks for your help… I knew the fact that my site is almost 3 years old might be issue with all the data…. cheers….
April 11, 2011 at 4:19 am #31099ajwmediaMember“The post is only accessible to membership levels 2,3,4 and 5. I’m not sure we are talking about the same thing. not members but post. all members. are free at this time. and will remain so. the only thing I will add is pages, with content that paid members will have access too.
so this is the post, http://bisocialnetwork.com/behind-the-scenes-with-john-barrowman-eve-myles-and-russell-davies-of-torchwood/ (but I want ALL POST)to have 1-3 paragraphs showing for non members, if you are a member and you sign in then it will show all content.
I started with this article to test. but again, all articles need to be locked down with 1-3 paragraphs showing if you are not a free member with login.
Where does this code go? [emember_protected member_id=2-3-4-5]
[/emember_protected] then you said that something is not compatible. here are the member settings I have.
8 admin (me)
7 staff
bi supporter 5 – (not set yet)
bi ally 4 – (not set yet)
bi friend 3 (not set yet)
free 2 -all current members. all the
at this point, I want all memberships to still lock down the article if they are not signed in… I just haven’t set up some of the memberships yet until I get the store running and add pages for subscription content. This is where I wish we had a telephone number to call for support. All help is welcome. Cheers
April 11, 2011 at 5:09 am #31100ajwmediaMemberdidn’t add… and not sure where the Gender section is located so I can add mtf and ftm along with male and female.
Under the custom settings….
1=>Bisexual,2=>Pansexual,3=>Queer,4=>Asexual,5=>Transexual,6=>Straight, 7=>Lesbian,8=>Gay,9=>Questioning,10=>Prefer not to say
also, it won’t let me add a new custom field. I click on it and nothing….
April 11, 2011 at 6:01 am #31101ajwmediaMemberYou can close this out. I figured it out. I just needed this tag [/emember_protected]
then I granted access to all memberships, who are logged in….
seems I will have to add this code for all 400 articles. wow! There has to be a better way to add this in the code. Is there a PHP piece I can add?
