On my site, I have tons of hours of lectures. I want to offer them free to listen to on the site, but to download them, they need to be a member.
Is there any way to do this, so they always see the page with the lectures, but can only listen if logged in for free, and can only download if logged in as a paid member?
If so, how would you suggest me doing it? I had a programmer working on it using “download monitor”, php, etc., but didn’t get anywhere and I’m getting real frustrated. I want to do it myself – I’m not a programmer. Is there any simple way of doing this?
Here is a sample page, although I’m sure I’ll need to change something.

Thanks big time for your time and help
July 24, 2011 at 3:48 pm #34637wzpModeratorThere is no such thing as a “listen only” mode on the Internet. The best you can do is offer an incentive to get a membership. Perhaps by offering lower fidelity recordings for free, and then higher fidelity downloads to subscribers. Look at the CNN sites. they offer written transcripts and snippets for free (without logging in), but require you to be logged in to get the complete program.

There are flash audio players which provide listening only. That’s what I mean. I’d like those flash audio players to work or be visable only after the visitor has signed up for a free (or paid) account. Surely that must be possible??

July 25, 2011 at 12:15 am #34640rafishacharMemberOkay, I realize it’s possible to download, but most people, I don’t think either don’t know how or just wouldn’t. Well, whatever it is, I still want to offer the option. So…what I’m asking,
Is there any easy way to make the audio player (or anything similar) so that it can only be listened to if signed up for free, and the download link only available to paid members?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
July 25, 2011 at 12:24 am #34641wzpModeratorHave eMember only display the player to free users and real download links to paid members; along with the player.
