Tagged: multiple membership levels
Hi,
I’m designing/building a music download and licensing website http://www.scrambledegos.com.
Commercial music licensing can be done on a per track basis using the standard eStore functionality. However, we also want to offer a blanket licence scenario where clients can access and download music.
To achieve this I’m using the eMember multiple membership functionality to restrict access to pages offering the downloadable music library. I’ve tested this using the Sandbox and it all works great.
Additionally we want to offer a Per Production licence, which means clients need access to restricted areas for a specific production.
We made the design decision to allow access for a production licence for one year. This gave me concerns about a client wanting to create more than one production in a year. I assumed they wouldn’t be able to purchase a level of membership they already have active. Therefore I’ve created multiple Production memberships to allow multiple purchases.
Testing the scenarios in Sandbox everything worked great. I decided to do one test attempting to purchase a membership I’d already bought. To my surprise, I was able to complete the purchase.
So here’s my question.
Is this the intended functionality or have I found a bug?
Assuming this is intended functionality it makes life much easier for me, but I wanted to ask in case it is a bug that gets fixed later and then breaks my website at some point in the future.
WP eMember does not impose any limitation regarding the purchase of a level/membership. As long as there is a BUY option for a product, the member can buy it. Different users setup their site differently so we prefer not to put a limitation unless it is really necessary to do so.
