I am considering using lightbox alongside estore and storing my swf files on Amazon S3 in hopes of allowing viewers to view but not save the videos. Can you please tell me…
1. Is it possible to prevent users from actually saving the file and still view it?
2. Regarding Lightbox, are there limits on the dimensions I can use for my swf file? For example, could I use 1024×768?
3. My swf file will include user keyboard responses and clicks (it’s a quiz).
Will the user responses still work in the lightbox player?
Many thanks! :o)
There is a field in the Ultimate lightbox settings “AWS S3 Video URL Expiry Time After Page Load”. You will be able to specify a value here (e.g 300 means 5 minutes). So After the page containing the S3 protected video loads the generated link will be valid for 5 minutes.
1. User has no way of accessing the actual URL of the video hosted in S3. The plugin requests for a video to S3 using your S3 account details. S3 generates an encrypted link (which will be valid for the duration you have specified in the settings) and send it back to the plugin. Now the plugin also adds another level of security by encoding the encrypted video link which the player can only decode. So even if anyone copy the encoded link by clicking “view source” and paste in the browser the video won’t be downloadable.
2. There is no limit on the dimension.
3. Does that quiz work when you simply embed the SWF file on a page (without using lightbox)? If it does then it should also work on the overlay window (with lightbox).
Thank you for that excellent explanation! :o) Yes, the SWF file does play straight from the browser so it sounds like the plugin will work for me.
Thank you again!
