How to Use the Link Generator in WP Affiliate?

Hi,

I was looking for a tutorial or guide how the “Link Generation” (Ads > Link Generation) feature of WP Affiliate platform works. I’m not sure how my affiliates can use it because I don’t know how it works. It seems the Page URL field can be edited. For example, my affiliate can just type in google.com in the field, and it generated a link. But google.com is not by website.

For example, my website has a Salespage on mysite.com/mysalespage (where the purchase button resides – integrated to WP eStore).

Will the sale still gets tracked if they used the Referral URL Generator, but entered a different website? For example if they put in google.com in the Page URL, it generated a referral URL as google.com?ap_id=myAffiliateID.

Does this mean that if someone visited google.com?ap_id=myAffiliateID and then later on purchased a product on mysite.com/mysalespage, then my affiliate with a user id of myAffiliateID gets credited for the sale?

Please can you kindly explain how it works?

How to Use the Affiliate Link Generation Tool

They can copy and paste any page URL from your site and enter it in the tool. The tool will create the affiliate link that they can use to send referrals.

When an affilaite goes to the tool area, they see the following message:

Enter any URL from this site in the form below to generate a referral link

I am not sure why you would be using an URL of an external site.
