How can I permanently assign a customer to an affiliate when the customer forgot to order using the affiliates URL? Did not see anything in the back office and did a search in the forum but did not see an answer. Thanks!
June 12, 2012 at 5:44 pm #46098wzpModeratorYou mean like a “default affiliate?”

June 12, 2012 at 6:04 pm #46099flyboyatlantaMemberNo, but good info to keep. An Affiliate has a customer order straight to our website rather than through the affiliate’s URL. Naturally, I want to credit the affiliate which I see I can do by applying a manual commission, but more importantly, I want that customer, for future purchases, to be tied into that affiliate. In other words can I assign that customer permanently to that particular affiliate. I could ask him to reorder using the URL but that is inconvenient to everyone.
Also, for an update, it would be helpful to have an affilate’s full URL in their profile.
June 13, 2012 at 5:40 am #46100adminKeymasterNo, there is no option to tie a customer permanently to an affiliate. What plugin are you using to handle the eCommerce side of things?
There is an option to show an affiliate URL to the affiliates when they log into the affiliate area. Make sure you specify a value in the “Default Landing Page” field of the affiliate platform plugin settings so it can display the default affiliate link.
June 13, 2012 at 2:49 pm #46101flyboyatlantaMemberSince I have tangible goods I am using Tribulant’s Shopping Cart. So, should I just have the person use the correct affiliate url next time and the cookie will then be implanted?
I do have code that shows to anyone when they are in any shopping type cart page who the affiliate is if there is one. I was interested in the Affiliate URL for me in the WP back office like Manage/Edit Affiliates, etc.
Thanks.

June 14, 2012 at 8:08 pm #46103flyboyatlantaMemberThank you but you keep missing what I am asking. I understand that the customer is supposed to use the Affiliate ID but IF THEY DO NOT then how can I assign that customer to that Affiliate for all future purchases?
June 14, 2012 at 8:26 pm #46104flyboyatlantaMemberBTW, the above is a nice feature. Doesn’t answer what I am asking but I have inserted the call. Any way to get rid of that thick frame? No frame might even be fine since it is relate to showing the Affiliate ID right above it.
Thanks. And if you do know an answer to my question above let me know…. Thank you.
June 15, 2012 at 1:48 am #46105IvyMemberIf your customer made a purchase that was suppose to be credited to an affiliate and was not because he didn’t use the affiliate link. Then you would need to manually add this to the Affiliate’s commission via the admin dashboard.
June 15, 2012 at 3:30 am #46106adminKeymasterIn one of my replies above I told you the following which I thought answered your question:
No, there is no option to tie a customer permanently to an affiliate.
What am I missing?
June 15, 2012 at 3:41 am #46107flyboyatlantaMemberProbably just semantics on my part. You were saying permanently and I was thinking just anytime that someone made a booboo, could I go in and rectify it and keep that affiliation. I think you did answer it and it just didn’t set in with me… but at 62 that’s starting to happen more than I care to think about….
Is it easy for you to point me to where I could remove the frame around this?

Here? wp-affiliate-platform/wp_affiliate_platform.php
Both of these calls above are excellent. Thanks.
June 15, 2012 at 3:49 am #46108flyboyatlantaMemberOK, …one more… for me to keep an affiliate name reserved do you think it can only be done by me creating a fictitious person until I want to give that reserved name to someone and then me deleting the fictitious name and then they signing up for it?
