How to stop email with download link going into JUNK mail

How can I stop the email with the download link for the ebooks going into Junk Mail.

I have changed it to sales@ however it is still happening.

Hi JanMarie –

It is my understanding that quite often, generic email addresses, such as sales@yourdomain.com and info@yourdomain.com will trigger spam filters. I recommend to my consulting clients that they use a name based email, even if they make subtle changes so that they can track things.

For instance, using SusieS@yourdomain for sales related inquiries and and SusieB@yourdomain.com for other types of business email.

That said, there are a myriad of reasons that emails are Junked. These reasons can range from trigger words in the Subject or body of the email, to the domain being on a mail server that is blocked for some reason.

If mail clients like (gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc.) decide to mark your domain name as a spam because you or the previous owner did some spam activity from this domain then there is nothing a plugin can do to help. A plugin simply tells WordPress to send the email and the email gets sent. If the email goes to the spam folder then it does indicate that your domain name may have been black listed. The reputation of your domain name solely depends on what has been done from that domain (mail servers like gmail, hotmail, yahoo has their own lists and will never listen to what anyone else has to say). Using SMPT can help sometimes (since the mail servers tend to trust emails sent over a secure channel). You can also instruct your customers to check their spam folder or instruct them to add your domain name in their white list.

I am sure that Amin and Ivy will also have suggestions. It can be a complex issue, with no clear cut solutions.

When emails go to the Junk email, sometimes it is impossible to figure out exactly why (mail servers don’t tell you why exactly it got marked as spam). There is an article from Google that explains some of the reasons:

Here is a tool that might help you with this issue too. This test will check a mail server IP address against 147 DNS based email blacklists:

Remember there are many blacklists; this just covers a majority of them.

One way to help with this is to have multiple delivery methods. For example: Email and the links displayed on the Thank you page after a purchase is made. This way if the email fails to reach the customers inbox they have the option of downloading the product from the Thank You page. Also, it is a good idea to instruct the customer to check the junk mail folder if they do not receive your email within a specified time.

is it possible to display the download link on the squeeze box webpage after they enter their email? it seems the spam filters are intent on getting this free download email every time…

alternativly, can I just send the pdf link of each free ebook in the squeeze box email? I dont care if the url is not disguised, i tested it with an email with just the pdf works and it didnt get spammed.

I believe it’s the download.php in the link that causes the spam filter to block it. If I try the same email with a PDF link it doesn’t get blocked

I don’t really think it is the “download.php” that is causing it. The “From Email Adress” among others plays a big role in getting an email marked as spam. When you are testing what from email address are you using?

If you don’t care about hiding/encrypting the URL then you can just use a plain squeeze form given by your autoresponder. There are also WordPress plugins that can do simple squeeze form type stuff.
