Hi
I have been using the simple paypal shopping cart (free) plugin for a while. But recently there was a dispute on one of the orders and it came to my attention that all orders are maked as goods/products. But i sell a servie (website promotion work) So it is intangible. I could not find any settings on the plgin to make this change.
I have bought the eStore plugin, but for me to implement the plugin and make changes is not an option as it would mean i would have to add all the products and details. It’s not convieninent in terms of time.
So what i would like to know is how do i modify the free plugin so all future orders are marked as a service and not as goods.
Hope i have explained my query, will be awaiting your response.
Thanks in advance
January 5, 2012 at 9:26 pm #40401wzpModeratorAre you trying to do something like this, independent of eStore?
January 5, 2012 at 9:59 pm #40402far184MemberThank you for your quick response. Yes it is a service like this. I sell website traffic.
When a customer buys and pays for the item(s), Paypal recognise the transaction as goods, instead of a service. This makes me open when to problems when disputses happen, as paypal require tracking info for goods. But since what i sell is a service( intangible) i do not have any tracking apart from web logs.
I have bought the eStore plugin, but since i set my site up with the free simple paypal shopping cart plugin, it is not convienient for me to switch over. What i need is advice on how to make changes to the current plugin to make all future transaction using this plugin as a service transaction not a transaction for goods.
Please help as i am not great at coding,
Any help is much appriciated.
Thanks

Do you really anticipate the need for a cart? From the way the page is laid out, it looks like all a person has to do us pick just “one option” from the matrix. If that’s the case, maybe a matrix of individual “buy now” buttons would suffice. I say this, because with individual PayPal generated buy now buttons, you can specify the items as being non shippable (intangible) items.
January 6, 2012 at 2:02 am #40404far184MemberThat is what i want to do, how do i class them as intangible items, what codes do i need to use.
At the moment i use this shortcode
[wp_cart:Product description:price:price:end]
Wat do i need to make so the order will be an intangible(service)
Thanks once again
January 6, 2012 at 5:40 am #40405adminKeymasterThe shortcode you shared is a simple shopping cart shortcode (not an eStore plugin shortcode). You purchased eStore so use eStore to place the buy buttons. This documentation will help:
When configuring the item in eStore you can specify a $0 shipping for that item in the “Shipping and Tax” section and it will make it a non-tangible item.
January 6, 2012 at 9:13 am #40406far184MemberThanks i will use the estore plugin for future sites, but what i wanted to know is, how can i make the simple shopping cart plugin to make the sale of the service as non-tangible items.
The reason i ask is, that my site has been set up with the simple ahoppong cart plugin, and for me to go and make all the changes to the site is not very time consuming, If this is not an option i fully undertand i have to make the changes and use the estore plugin.
Thanks
January 7, 2012 at 5:16 am #40407adminKeymasterFor simple shopping cart if you uncheck the “Must Collect Shipping Address on PayPal” option from the settings it won’t force an address collection anymore. Let me know if that helps.
January 8, 2012 at 4:36 pm #40408far184MemberHi
Thanks for the reply, but i already have that option off.
Let me explain my problem again.
I sell website traffic on my site, which is an service/non-tangible goods
However when a customer buys from my site it shows on my paypal as goods(tangible/physical)
So when a dispute is on my paypal account, i need to provide proof of posting when i do not have that, I have explain over and over again that it is a service not a product.
So what i would like to know how do i do modify the plugin/setting to make this change.
All the help is greatly appriciated.
Thanks
January 8, 2012 at 6:25 pm #40409wzpModeratorMy understanding, from the above thread, is that you must describe the product as such; using word like “Web Traffic SERVICE” in the product description.
