Hello,
I’d like to protect content with eMember and allow google to index it.
Google manage that with “First Click Free”. See details here http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=74536
How can I manage that inside the eMember plugin ?
I saw other members wordpress plugin with “First Click Free” integrated in the plugin.
Thanks for the answer.

September 22, 2011 at 4:13 pm #36898lekiendSpectatorBelow description of this functionality in MemberWing-X.
It could be nice to have this functionnality in eMember
When enabled MemberWing-X will show full content of the first page to users coming from search engines as per Google First Click Free specification.
Notes:
– Enabling this feature will allow Google to index all your premium content. This will likely award you higher ranking on search engines and potentially more visitors but for the cost of more visibility (less protection) for premium content. Although for many membership sites benefits of higher rankings and more quality buying traffic outweight concerns of one page exposure for premium content
– Only first premium page will be shown to visitor and only in case if he clicked on its link directly from search engine result page. Other premium pages will still be protected by MemberWing-X and to view other pages visitor will still need to subscribe/join or pay per your requirements.
– First Click Free feature does not affect digital downloadable materials guarded by Digital Content Protection function of MemberWing-X.

September 25, 2011 at 7:35 am #36900adminKeymasterWe have added a place holder “Google First Click Free Feature”. Please get a new build of the plugin from here to get the update:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/update-request
After the update go to the settings menu and check the “Enable Google First Click Free Feature” checkbox and test this feature out.
September 29, 2011 at 9:16 am #36901lekiendSpectatorCool !
Did you follow instructions from http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/10/first-click-free-for-web-search.html to implement ?
Do you test if useragent googlebot come from google servers ? If not, with some browser, it is possible to view protected content using “googlbot” user agent.
Best regards

September 29, 2011 at 9:41 am #36902lekiendSpectatorHello Amin,
I installed last version and activate First Click Free.
How to implement this function ?
Wich shortcode to determine the free part and the protected part of an article/page ?
I suggest you to speak about this function in your function list on your website and in the documentation.

Once we sort this issue out we will add documentation for how to use this feature.
October 3, 2011 at 12:54 am #36904adminKeymasterWe updated the plugin and enabled the Google First Click Free feature. This documentation has full details:
