MemberHi.
How do I make sure that only after a customer opts in (double opt in) does he get the encrypted links?
When I did a test to see if it works, the return URL after the paypal check out and payment worked fine. It went straight to the website where I had a post with my aweber opt in webform on it.
Before I could even put in my details, the download links arrived in my inbox.
I definitely dont want that to happen as I will lose my customers double optin email collection in my aweber account.
Hope to get a quick reply. Im releasing a product and hope to do it soon once I get a reply.
Thanks in advance for your help.

ModeratorThe download links are automagically emailed as soon as the IPN is validated.

MemberIs there anyway to put a hold on that TILL the customer confirms their subscription so that they only get the download links after the double opt in?
Thanks:)

ModeratorWithout an excessive amount of custom script logic? You might try putting outbound SMTP mail on some kind of 30 minute or more delay.
So, after paying for the product, what happens if they refuse to opt-in??? Just wondering.

MemberCould you please tell me where I could change this outbound SMTP setting?
Thanks for your help.

ModeratorIt is particular to your hosting package. Try calling your provider and ask if it’s possible to deliberately delay outbound email from your site by about 30 or 60 minutes. Because most website owners “hate” having their outbound email delayed, the request might sound strange to your provider, but is possible to do. SlowDaddy, errrr GoDaddy, delays outbound email by about 10 minutes as a business practice.

Urban Dictionary: slow daddy
The processing speed for reading and responding to e mail on Go Daddy.

MemberMy hosting company Hostgator says: “Unfortunately, due to the way our servers are set up and configured, we can’t throttle e-mail at the mail server level, it needs to be done through the plugin or an alternative method. I’ve verified that we can’t do this with a server administrator.” Could you please help? Please?

ModeratorI need a few days to think through the issue, as I am out of town until Monday, and am using an iPad from my hotel room.
How willing are you to get your hands “dirty” with doing some of your own programming? I ask because it is the difference between “pointing you in the right direction,” versus “telling you whether or not it can be done without us having to do a major modification to eStore.”

MemberHi
Happy New Year!
Im not knowledgeable on programming unfortunately. So I couldn’t understand php etc when I was googling answers. There is a plug in called Mailer which is for mail throttling I think? But Im not sure if thats the direction we should go. Would it be possible to put add a feature in eStore where a customer can choose to delay outbound emails? Just asking.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it!

ModeratorI’ve read the “mailer” plugin information…

No use in reinventing the wheel; you should specifically ask them if it can simply delay all outbound email messages by “N” minutes.
