Hi,
I have both the affiliate plug in and the e-store.
I have successfully set up the affiliate site. Now I am wanting to create my sales page and product delivery page where folks will after purchase be directed to to download their digital products ( its a set of audios and transcripts I am selling) so…my question is:
How do I send people to a password protected download page after they purchase with these plugins?
I do not want to have an e-store here. I will be selling these audios off of a sales page on my site which links into paypal.
I hope all of this makes sense and you can help me figure this password protected thing out:)
Thank you so much!!!!

January 20, 2012 at 12:09 am #40982PeterMemberHi Vanessa,
I don’t fully understand your question because you mention that you want to sell the products using eStore but later say that “I do not want to have an e-store here. I will be selling these audios off of a sales page on my site which links into paypal.”
However I’ll try my best to give you an answer:
“How do I send people to a password protected download page after they purchase with these plugins?”
eStore and the affiliate plugins don’t have password protection functionality for content.
However, if you’re concerned about safeguarding your content, eStore does encrypt download links for each customer after they make a digital purchase – meaning it will be very difficult for anybody other than your customer to get this content because they would need the encrypted link. Also, you can configure the encrypted link which goes to your downloads to expire after a certain amount of time.
Regarding password protected pages – you can achieve this type of functionality using the eMember plugin. This is a membership plugin which integrates with eStore and Affiliate plugins and allows you to automatically add a client as a member of your site after they’ve made a purchase with eStore. eMember then allows you to protect any page you whereby only those who are in a certain membership level can access the protected pages.

Peter – Thank you for that answer, I’m still fuzzy here.
I will create a sales pages in optimize press on my wordpress blog. I have an affiliate program affiliate plug in – which will create seperate opt in page links coded with those peoples links.
Opt in goes to my list where folks get the email to check out my sales page.
Sales page will have a paypal button on it. When folks buy I want to send them to a password protected page where they can then download the files.
What you are saying is that I would have to use the e-store plug in and then buy another member plugin to password protect the page…rrrr that doesn’t feel right to me.
I don’t really need e-store, what I need is a plug in that will work with my affiliate plugin, and password protect my download page…. does that exist, that works right?
Thank you for your help defuzzing my brain about this:)

January 20, 2012 at 5:29 am #40984adminKeymasterPassword protecting a page means you need to maintain a “members list” who will have access to that page (the rest of the world won’t have access). Basically, you need a way to differentiate the users who have access to that page or not. Standard eCommerce plugin doesn’t handle this “Member/User Management” part. This is the task of a Membership plugin. WP eStore doesn’t do member/user management so eStore alone won’t be able to do what you are after. If you keep looking I am sure you will find an eCommerce plugin that has a membership functionality built into it. In our case we separated it out and made it a different plugin (WP eMember). This approach lets us make a robust membership management plugin.
January 23, 2012 at 12:40 am #40985vanbranMemberOk,
So that means I buy wp eMember plugin and that will integrate with wp affiliate and send an email to the folks who buy my products – with login info to access the product page after they buy it correct?
I want to make sure that when people buy the product they wont be able to share the link page with people for free.
So I will need WP eMember right? Then I’m all set to go right?
Thank you for your time and answers:)

January 23, 2012 at 12:53 am #40986vanbranMemberAlso another question… do i need to have created my product linked with WP eStore for the affiliate program to track sales?
Right now I am using the affiliate plug in to promote an opt in page for an online event that will lead to the sales page. Will the affiliate program figure out who’s sale is who’s? And will it do this if I just pull the buy now button code from pay pal without going through and creating it as a estore product?
Shit now I’m confused again…

January 23, 2012 at 4:45 am #40987adminKeymasterBefore you buy eMember please make sure to read the documentation so you know if this plugin will suit your needs. All the documentation is here:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/
You should pay attention to the following documentation in particular to see if it will work for you (This will only work for eStore product and WP eMember):
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-display-a-members-purchase-history-158
Yes, the affiliate plugin will be able to figure it out as long as you integrate them correctly.
January 25, 2012 at 4:10 am #40988vanbranMemberThank you for your answers and patience with me:)
Here’s where I am at.
I figured out how to create a product in eStore.
I set up my affiliate links to a sales page where the add to cart button was, and bought it, it went through BUT there was no redirect from Paypal to the Thank you page which I did fill out in the return url fields in both paypal, and in the settings menu in eStore.
Now even though there was no sight or sound of the thank you page, the affiliate program DID log in the visits and marked the sale. So the stats work but now no thank you page? Weird…
So my question is this….
Can I direct people to a URL where I will have all my audios and transcripts all on one page that folks can download or listen to at their leisure? Does this software mask the URL of that download page OR is it just for one specific product at a time? From what I understand it goes over to like one PDF or one location not specifically a page where they can download all kinds of stuff from one page.
I read the documentation and am still confused.
I want to send my clients once they pay to a page where they will be able to access 14 audios and 14 transcripts. I want that page to be protected, meaning I don’t want them to be able to send people to it. SO does that mean I need eMember?
THANK YOU for your help ~ I don’t know what I would do without it

January 25, 2012 at 5:35 am #40989IvyMemberHi,
1. Are you using the PDT method for the thank you page:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/?p=499
If you are using the PDT option and this is still not working do the following.
Run a test transaction with the debug turned on as this will tell you exactly what is going wrong after a payment.
The following forum post will explain when and how to use the debug:
If you need help reading the debug log feel free to share the content of the following three debug files
– ipn_handle_debug.log
– eStore_post_payment_debug.log
– subscription_handle_debug.log
2. If you want to use a protect download page you will need to use the eMember with the eStore for this. You can read more about the eMember here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/

1. Are you using the PDT method for the thank you page:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/?p=499
Originally yes I did all of this – but then realized that I could not create a password protected download page without eMember. So I originally configured my product to have the redirect thank you page with product on there. It’s the same thank you page i just took the products off of there now because I have emember and its supposed to send an email with a registration link so people can register for access to the download page. BUT it doesn’t send an email, even if I configure the buy now button with the membership ID level in estore.
I am so confused I think I’ve gotten in way over my head here…

I did debug pls see below:

2. If you want to use a protect download page you will need to use the eMember with the eStore for this. You can read more about the eMember here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/
I have eMember now and am having a ripper of a time configuring all of these three things together.
I made my estore product use a buy now button with the membership level in the reference text spot so it’s supposed to know what’s going on but something is wonky.
Question: Do I have to put the buy now button on the membership payment/login page for this to all work? Because I have been putting the buy now button on my sales page…could that be the problem? And am I allowed to put this buy now button on a sales page and still have this whole process work?
Thank you Thank you Thank you for your help, I need to get this thing up and running here.
Vanessa
