I just wanted your advice on how to connect WP Affiliate to attribute earnings from custom-work-invoices I do for clients they send me? Is there a usual way this is to be done? For example, an affiliate may send potential clients to my landing page for consulting work where the client asks for a quote and I thereafter invoice the clients, either once or at different phases through a consulting project.
After the quote, does the customer go to a page on your site and make a transaction to pay for the service? If yes, which e-commerce plugin is used for it? (the standard e-commerce integration applies there)
If you manually collect the payment via some other form, then you will need to award the commission manually (you can enter a manual commission from the commissions menu). Normally, a lead capture type setup is used for this. Below is an example of how lead capture works with contact form 7 plugin:
