I have two simple products which are digital downloads. I would like to configure them so that PayPal does not ask for a shipping address as it’s not needed. I have the “Use PayPal Profile Based Shipping” box unchecked. What else do I need to do to achieve this?March 22, 2010 at 11:17 pm #18939J57Member
Sounds like your doing everything right already. I assume after then above paypal is still asking for shipping address?October 20, 2011 at 4:12 am #18940
If you do not use PayPal profile based shipping and the checkout doesn’t have any shipping cost involved then eStore tells PayPal to not force a shipping address collection.
If all the items in the cart are digital then the plugin won’t force an address collection. It will just prompt for one (but that is optional). There is a small tweak you can apply to make it so it doesn’t even prompt for an address.
The following post should be helpful if you want to completey turn off the shipping address collection on PayPal checkout:October 20, 2011 at 8:32 am #18941jaylatSpectator
I’m not using the PayPal profile based shipping (box not checked) and the checkout doesn’t have any shipping cost involved, but the emails from Paypal still contain the full shipping address. BTW I’m using v 5.9.6October 20, 2011 at 10:39 pm #18942
PayPal always includes the address if the customer provides it or he paid via his PayPal account (PayPal knows the address from his account data in that case). This does not mean that the customer was forced to give the address at checkout time.April 9, 2015 at 2:30 pm #18943dleeowenMember
I have a similar issue. I have a mixed bag site: some physical prints and 2 digital files. The problem is I have switched on PayPal and it merrily calculates shipping for my digital files too. I can’t figure out how to have PayPal cake an eat it too on digital. Maybe set a weight of zero and charge 0 in PayPal as one of the shipping methods, BUT that requires the customer to select the right shipping. Not ideal. Has anyone come up with a way of deal with this “mixed bag” of physical and digital products and PAYPAL??April 9, 2015 at 11:56 pm #18944
