I have an educational site where Students log in to give multiple choice tests. This is a subscription based site based on the Grade they are in. (Valid for 365 days)
Scenario
Student is in Grade 5 (Subscribed)after 1 year he now wants to subscribe for Grade 6 Test Papers, he get the message “You do not have the permission to view the content”
At this stage how can he upgrade his account to include Grade 6 content. How can I add an upgrade button.
Scenario.
Can a Student have multiple subscription, if yes, how can I offer discount on multiple subscription
If the paypal payment email is different from the registration email, how is it possible to link the two
When a mail goes out the Student at the time of registration, why does he get a mail from “WordPress” and not from the email I have set up in Email settings (Prompt to Complete Registration)
Thanks
April 4, 2014 at 5:42 am #62092adminKeymasterCreate a page called “Membership Upgrade” and put the upgrade buttons in that page. Protect this page with eMember so only your logged in members can view the payment buttons that are inside this page. Now, tell your users that they can upgrade their membership buy going to that membership upgrade page.
Read the following two documentation that has more info and answer to some of your other questions:
How to Create Payment Buttons for Membership Upgrade or Renewal
Regarding the email… what value have you used in the “From Email Address” field of the “Email Settings” menu?
April 8, 2014 at 8:45 am #62093MuneeshMemberWhen I try to manually upgrade / Change a Membership Level from the Add/Edit Member I am asked to retype the password of the user, which I obviously do not know.
What is the best way to manually upgrade a Member
April 8, 2014 at 1:43 pm #62094wzpModeratorYou do it from “Manage Users,” not “Add/Edit Users.” As you mouse-over an existing user, an “Edit” link will appear underneath the user’s ID number. You’ll get a form that looks like the one you saw under Add/Edit, but you will not be required to fill in the password field(s).

December 17, 2015 at 1:15 pm #62096JMunroMemberHi there,
I also want to do what Muneesh wanted to do in the first part of his question.
I have a ‘Join Us’ page with 3 payment options:
1) Buy the course in one payment – full access.
2) Instalment one – half the payment = the first half of the course.
3) Instalment two – the second half of the payment = rest of the course.
I’ve successfully set these Paypal buttons up on the Join Us page and am now testing if it works. I buy Instalment 1 and then try to access the protected stuff that I would need to buy Instalment 2 to see, but get the message “You do not have permission to view this content”.
So how do I set it so the person can then just click to pay Instalment 2? Do I need to create a new page in the navigation or can I just edit the text so it says ‘click here to upgrade’ and have a link to the ‘Join Us’ page where I already have Instalment 2 PayPal button?
I can’t see where I’m supposed to go to pay the second instalment from the ‘you do not have permission’ page.
I’ve spend all day scouring the forum so any help will be gratefully received!
December 18, 2015 at 12:02 am #62097adminKeymasterYou should be able to handle it like the following:
The key thing to understand is that you can create as many levels as you want to and then for each of those levels, allow access to whatever content you want to.
Think of your installments as membership levels. Lets say the installment 1 payment gives access to level 1. Installment 2 payment gives access to level 2. Then you have another level which is level 3 that give access to content of both level 1 and 2.
First, enable the multiple membership level per user feature from eMember settings. You can do this by checking the “Enable Secondary Membership” checkbox in the settings.
Next, put your two payment buttons on the join us page (you can use those same buttons on an upgrade page also).
A user can pay for level 1 and get access to level one, If the user later pays for level 2 then that level gets added to his profile. So now he gets access to content of both level 1 and 2.
December 18, 2015 at 9:31 am #62098JMunroMemberThank you – that wasn’t what I was asking though. I HAVE already done those things, what I needed to know was where and how the person upgrades from one membership level to the next.
When testing, I give myself access to the first level only BUT when I go to access something in the next level (so would need to upgrade), I just get the “you do not have permission to view this content” page. Ideally I want to then be able to immediately go and pay the second instalment to upgrade but there is no link to the Join Us page.
So, are the only options I have open to me (to upgrade at this point), to create an Upgrade page within my site, or can I amend the “you don’t have permission” message to give a link to the Join Us page? I just want to be able to give the member a really quick and easy way of upgrading!
Thank you again – hope you can help and that you can see what I need to do.

You can do either. Pick the method that best works for your site design.
