We’re offering a few different membership options for customers, one of which is billed monthly for a set period of time.
If a customer purchases a 12 month membership and it’s billed monthly, is there a way to prevent them from cancelling before the 12 months are up?
No. PayPal subscription can always be cancelled from the PayPal account. This is set by PayPal. The plugin cancels the membership if the subscription is cancelled so you don’t really lose anything.
You can use the PayPal Payments Pro Subscription which does the checkout on the site using a Credit card only (no PayPal account). This will make it to where the subscriber can’t go to their PayPal account and cancel a subscription. To use PayPal Payments Pro, you need the Payment Gateway Bundle:

Cancellation of a subscription is the prerogative of the subscriber, via the payment processor. However, once the payment processor (PayPal) cancels a subscription on the subscriber’s behalf; eMember will be sent a cancellation notification and it will correspondingly cancel the membership.
