What happens when someone’s account expires and they checkout and make payment, then try to renew again on the registration page. Does the system auto-fill in their details already (because they were a previous member)? Do they simply fill out the form again? What happens if they use the same information and email? Is emember smart enough to know that and match up both accounts (the original one and the renewal one? Or will the person be blocked from renewing because their email address is already in “use”.
Please clarify exactly how the renewal registration process works. This isn’t clear. Many thanks.
May 9, 2013 at 10:44 pm #55499adminKeymasterYour existing members do not have to fill any form to renew. They simply have to make a payment using the payment buttons you create and their account will be upgraded. Please read this documentation for more details:
May 20, 2017 at 3:17 am #55500clearscopedesignParticipantCould you please clarify for us:
If a member is logged-in to their account and they make a renewal payment via PayPal, if the email address that they use for their PayPal account is different than the email address used for their eMember account, should their account still automatically renew?
May 20, 2017 at 4:05 am #55501wzpModeratorFor one-time (non-recurring) payments, the email address used for their PayPal account has no relationship to the one email address used for their eMember account.
The only time a relationship is formed; is when a recurring payment is processed. In which case, the PayPal account (but not the PayPal email address) is effectively associated with the eMember account (but not the eMember email address), for the duration of the subscription (recurring payment) period.
Changing a PayPal email address and/or an eMember email address does not “break” anything. That’s because unique identifiers are used to “tie” the PayPal account to the eMember account.
May 21, 2017 at 12:45 am #55502adminKeymasterIf a member is logged into eMember and then use one of the payment buttons configured in emember (or eStore plugin), then the plugin will know who paid for using the login and apply the payment to that profile. For that scenario, it doesn’t matter what email address they use for the transaction.
