Tagged: estore, file size, FTP, large audio file, large file, upload limit
I have an audio file larger than the maximum 8 MB which I would like to make available on a wordpress site. Any ideas on how to do that? Are there any services that do the hosting and streaming services?
Thanks for your help
Which plugin are you talking about? You can’t upload this file to your site then embed it using an Audio player plugin?
There is a limit to the filesize and that particular file is above the limit.
Its the WordPress Audio/Music Player Plugin.
You can upload that file to your server via FTP (use a software like FileZilla). When you upload via FTP, it won’t have any file size limit. Work out the URL of that file then use it in that plugin’s shortcode.
Great! I had the same issue! Thanks
Alex
That sounds good. Thank you. I am still wondering if there is a service that does the hosting so that I am using less bandwidth on my hosting account.
Have you considered Amazon S3? Amazon S3 is really good for hosting your static files outside of your server. It is very cheap too.
WP eStore also has integration with amazon S3 if you need it.
Thank you, I will check it out.
On my eStore, I am getting a 1MB upload limit, which is definitely too small for my mp3 files. I have installed Cyberduck and have my files on my host server in FTP, but I don’t know how to “Work out the URL of that file then use it in that plugin’s shortcode.” When I copy the URL from Cyberduck and then try to access it, I get nothing. Any suggestions?
What exactly do you mean by “nothing?” If you were to upload a simple text file, using CyberDuck, and then try to access it; what happens? You are failing to create the correct URL of the file after you upload it? Maybe read “CyberDuck” software’s documentation to see how you can find our the URL of a file that you upload to your server?
