I was using the old method of setting up a PPV and it worked fine until I discovered it didn’t suit my needs. So I was recommended the new PPV method WordPress Permalink as digital product.
There was a tute on the old method so it was easy to follow. I’m confused on the set-up, from what I read
1.setup your target page with your enclosed content where it will link to after the purchase.
2.Create a page or post that will become the APR target and enclose the content then enclose it using the short-code… (This is where it gets confusing…)
Can somebody assist me with this… I wish there were a tutorial on it.
Thx

The content being protected is enclosed by the APR short ode. the parameters for the short code dictate the protection behavior.
September 6, 2011 at 6:04 pm #36307moereeseMemberI’ve read the simple tutorial on this: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/using-wordpress-permalinks-as-digital-products-apr-1217
over the weekend at least a dozen times already and its not very clear to me.
The intructions say: 1.create the target page and setup the content that you want to deliver after the purchase. Well my target page is here: http://polymedpictures.com/livebroadcast.html and it is an embedded player.
Then it says: 2.Create a page or post that will become the APR target then enclose the content you want to protect using one of the following shortcodes:
Well I have a page/post I created in WP admin, where is this shortcode suppose to appear… in the post/post (html)??
This is the shortcode the instructions listed: [wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired]
//Place the content that you want to protect here.
//The content inside this shortcode tags are only visible to customers who make a payment and click on the encrypted link given to them.
[/wp_eStore_APR]
September 6, 2011 at 6:47 pm #36308wzpModeratorStep #2 says…
******************************
Step 2
Setup your digital product, using the URL of the APR target page in the “Digital Product URL” field. CHANGE the URL scheme from ‘http’ to ‘aprtp’ or from ‘https’ to ‘aprtps’ in the “Digital Product URL” field. So for example if your APR target page URL is the following:
http://www.example.com/my-secret-page-with-awesome-video
Change the keyword “http” to “aprtp” and use that URL in the “Digital Product URL” field. So for the above example you will enter the following in the “Digital Product URL” field:
aprtp://www.example.com/my-secret-page-with-awesome-video
******************************
What it means is to add the page to the product database, and tells you how to modify the product URL.

Okay so first thing… here is I created a TEST permalink page/post http://polymedmediagroup.com/?page_id=39
It shows NOTHING!
here is the shortcode I used:
[wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired]
<object width=”560″ height=”340″ id=”lsplayer” classid=”clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000″><param name=”movie” value=”http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=polymedpictures&autoPlay=false”></param><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always”></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><embed name=”lsplayer” wmode=”transparent” src=”http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=polymedpictures&autoPlay=false” width=”560″ height=”340″ allowScriptAccess=”always” allowFullScreen=”true” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash”></embed></object><div style=”font-size: 11px;padding-top:10px;text-align:center;width:560px”>Watch live streaming video from polymedpictures at livestream.com</div>
[/wp_eStore_APR]
The weird thing is if I remove the: [wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired] the embedded player appears.
September 6, 2011 at 9:20 pm #36310wzpModeratorIt shows nothing, because it is doing what it is supposed to do… hide the content, unless you get there via an encrypted download link. If you look at the page directly, the content will be hidden every time.
To see the content, you must add the page, as a product, to the product database, using the instructions in step #2.
The instructions of step#2 are telling you how to add the page to the product database.
Once the page is added to the database, and you create an encrypted link to that product, the content will become visible when the encrypted link s clicked on.
September 6, 2011 at 9:34 pm #36311wzpModeratorPerhaps, it was presumed in step #2 that you knew we are referring to the Add Product menu screen…
September 6, 2011 at 9:57 pm #36312moereeseMembermaybe i can make this easier because by telling you what I’ve done perhaps you can tell me what step I went wrong because I’ve done everything & it just doesn’t seem to work.
1. CREATED PAGE/POST in WP…. the permalink for this is http://polymedmediagroup.com/?page_id=39
2. INSERTED SHORT CODE: [wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired]
<div><object width=”560″ height=”340″ id=”lsplayer” classid=”clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000″><param name=”movie” value=”http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=polymedpictures&autoPlay=false”></param><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always”></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><embed name=”lsplayer” wmode=”transparent” src=”http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=polymedpictures&autoPlay=false” width=”560″ height=”340″ allowScriptAccess=”always” allowFullScreen=”true” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash”></embed></object><div style=”font-size: 11px;padding-top:10px;text-align:center;width:560px”>Watch live streaming video from polymedpictures at livestream.com</div>
[/wp_eStore_APR]
Result: no link or player on page.
3. Created product in add/edit WPStore…applied name & price… assigned product url link as : aprtp://polymedmediagroup.com/?page_id=39
RESULT: still nothing on page
Where did I go wrong, am I missing a step or step not completed??
September 6, 2011 at 10:07 pm #36313wzpModerator1, 2 and 3 you have done correct. Now, go to the Admin functions page in eStore and generate an encrypted link for the product. Paste the generated link into you browser, and the content should appear.
September 6, 2011 at 10:24 pm #36314moereeseMemberOkay,getting somewhere here… :0)
So I did as you said, Admin functions in estore & created generated an encrypted link… I did receive a link code which I pasted in the browser but still no nothing appears on the nothing on the created page: http://polymedmediagroup.com/%3Fpage_id%3D39/
September 6, 2011 at 10:29 pm #36315wzpModeratorLet’s try something… Instead of the player code inside the short code, try putting some text inside. That way, we can separate the short code from the player problems.
September 6, 2011 at 10:39 pm #36316moereeseMemberI replaced the embedded player with the words text all inside the short code. And no text appears on the page.
Here is the html: [wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired]
TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST
[/wp_eStore_APR]
September 6, 2011 at 10:48 pm #36317wzpModeratorOn your test page, please insert this…
[wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=unexpired]
TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST
APR cookie found.
[/wp_eStore_APR]
[wp_eStore_APR expiry=0 status=expired]
APR cookie expired or does not exist.
[/wp_eStore_APR]
Then try accessing the page by going to the Admin Functions page and creating a new encrypted link, etc. you should either see the “TEST…” message or you will see the second message.
September 6, 2011 at 11:22 pm #36318moereeseMemberOkay, yes I see the 2nd message : APR cookie expired or does not exist.
