For some reason the digital files are not downloading correctly once purchased from the online store. The files are PDF’s so that they are cross platform ready and via the encrypted link after making the purchase for them, they both come in as empty. They are located in the right folder there and show up just fine on the server too. Both are about 3Mb big and so they should not be “getting stuck” or anything like that due to file size. Also the field in there for the wp-store that reads “Download Validation Script Location” has been setup right as well. So, it’s a mystery as to what is happening here. Please help as the online store is now on hold until we can get this resolved. Thanks!

January 25, 2011 at 6:51 pm #28364cablemanMemberAbsolutely none of this has helped me in anyway, I have tried all of it and its the same thing. All downloaded files from the encrypted link are empty and corrupted. I am trying to find my transaction id so that i can get an update but i bought this like almost 2 years ago and do not have that info anymore.
January 25, 2011 at 7:52 pm #28365wzpModeratorI noticed from your other post, that you are in need of upgrading your software as well. There have been many changes to the software over the last year or so. If you could please complete the manual upgrade request form, referred to in your other post, I’m sure that this problem will resolve itself after you install the latest version.
January 26, 2011 at 9:50 pm #28366cablemanMemberThe plugin has now been updated to the latest version (Version v4.8.9). However, there are still problems in trying to get the digital content delivered successfully via the encrypted link there in the email sent to the paid product. In addition, a 404 error is either received when clicking on the encrypted link or the link downloads a blank file or the file is corrupted and therefore come in as a blank(empty) file. There are two files and both are a PDF and both are only 3MB big, so file size is not an issue. The files are uploaded here in this directory via:
/wp-content/plugins/wp-estore/wp-cart-for-digital-products/downloads/
Also, to further test the digital download out, the encrypted link was manually rendered via the admin function to generate it and sent to our own email address to see how it would there and again, the encrypted link renders a 404 error or simply does not work.
Also the “Download Validation Script Location” field there in the settings were automatically set to this:
http://sniffdesign.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-estore/wp-cart-for-digital-products/downloads/
We have applied all of the recommended items there via the (https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/downloaded-file-size-is-0-zero-byte ) but alas…the problem persists.
January 26, 2011 at 10:16 pm #28367wzpModeratorFor debugging purposes, it is sufficient for now to just copy the manually rendered link into the browser address bar. Once we can get that working, everything else should work.
1. Are you only having problems with PDF files? If it was some other kind of file, does it work?
2. Are you using PDF Stamper on those files?
January 26, 2011 at 11:18 pm #28368FrankMemberI’ve encountered much the same issue too. The only solution for me was to copy the details of a current product that stops working and have them use that one. Again, it will work for a while and then stop working. I too am running the latest and greatest.
If you’d like a demo of a file that isn’t working and one that’s just a copy product of exactly the same file that is working, pm me and I’ll send you the two links.

January 26, 2011 at 11:21 pm #28369cablemanMemberSo, do you need to have the actual links then so that you can test it?
In answer to your questions there:
1) Actually this problem seems to be with getting the encrypted link to work in general, not matter the file type being used to get downloaded. There is a test product item setup in the store, whose link does not work properly either when sent as an encrypted link via email to the customer. But when rendered manually there in the browser, it works just fine. Here is that link:
2) No, a PDF stamper is not being used on these two files.
January 27, 2011 at 5:14 am #28370amin007Participant@cableman, The “Download Validation Script Location” field’s value is wrong. This is why it is giving you a 404 when you try to download an encrypted link. Please do not update the value of this field as suggested by the help text for that field.
Please do the following to correct this.
1) Empty out the value of the “Download Validation Script Location” field
2) Hit “Save Settings”. This will recalculate the product location.
3) Hit “Save Settings” again.
Remember to save the settings twice after you empty out the value of the field. Now, try an encrypted download.
March 29, 2011 at 5:15 pm #28371mtsw69MemberHi, bit of an emergency here! My new Website had its first sale today, but the customer Emailed me almost immediately to inform me that the download link appeared to have expired! I thought this was very strange as I had set the download expiry at 168 hours (7 days). In fact I want no limit on downloads, but for now its set to 7 days.
Anyway, no problem I thought, I simply went to the Admin Functions screen and created a manual download link instead, pasted it in an Email to the customer and forgot about it.
Customer Emailed again to inform me that this time he was getting the following message:
Internet Explorer cannot download download.php from explaudio.com.
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
Help! What’s happening?
I have 3 digital variations, an MP3 file, a WMA file, and a WAV file. All of them were working 2 days ago when I did my final live testing as a test customer, and now they’re not working at all!
Please get back to me as soon as you can, the customer is waiting for his download and its very embarrasing to say the least!
Matt
March 29, 2011 at 6:28 pm #28372wzpModeratorWhat version of IE is the buyer using?
What download method are you using?
Ask the buyer to try this… IE -> Tools -> Internet Options – > Advanced -> Reset.
Have YOU tried this on yor copy of IE?
Does the buyer have anything else, besides IE they can try?
