MemberA site hacking is almost always a result of poor security practices on the admin’s part. Security is a two way street. You should not use plugins or themes that you download from questionable sites at the same time you should use a proper hosting company and practice good security practices.
The following articles might help:

You should also do some research on your own to explore what else you can do to make your site more secure.

MemberHello,
Please do you know if [www.yrhost.com] is a good webhosting company.

ModeratorWe prefer not to endorse any one particular hosting company over another. However, if you Google “yrhost reviews” you will discover enough information to make an informed decision.

MemberHello,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I got frustrated using WordPress because the worpdress websites have been REPEATEDLY hacked.
I took extra precuation and yet this didn’t solve the problem.
Can I ask you a personal question? Have any of your wordpress sites been ever hacked and if yes, while do you think they were hacked?
I am currently hosting with [www.yrhost.com] and since 8 years, it was just on one occassions that the index pages of all the sites I have were hacked.
But since last year, my wordpress sites have been REPEATEDLY HACKED!!!
So I am thinking of going over to use [http://hostgator.com/]
I can run some of my ecommerce sites there while the rest of my normal site stays with [www.yrhost.com]
That way, I can see if I can prevent the wordpress sites from been hacked.
Also with regards to the plug-ins, before I install any plugin (outside the Tips and Tricks plugins), can I show you these plug-ins for you to vet?
More still are there extra security practices/services that you can recommend?

ModeratorUnless you’ve “done something” to piss someone off, or your sites are especially vulnerable; most long term hacking incidents occur at the hosting level. When that occurs; all sites hosted by the provider will be affected.
Using 2 hosting providers should give you an idea of whether or not your problems originate at the hosting level.
When choosing themes or plugins, the most important advice I can give is to not use pirated software. Always obtain commercial themes and plugins from the original vendor.
And when using themes and plugins from the main WordPress.org site; always pay attention to the download statistics, reviews, ratings and any forum threads that may mention the theme or plugin you are considering.
