Hi,
I am working on integrating an affiliate program into a site, and am trying to make sure that I understand everything correctly.
I am selling a Membership and a Service.
The Membership is sold with eStore as the shopping cart, so the Affiliate platform should catch the sales no problem.
The service is being sold using Gravity Forms. GF has PayPal integration, so that when someone completes the order form and hits submit they are redirected to paypal to pay, and after completed payment my team gets the order from.
I need to get Affiliate Platform to catch that sale and credit the commission. I have read the directions in the documentation (http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate/gravity-forms-and-wp-affiliate-platform-integration-385), but these directions seem to be more about capturing a lead.
Will this work for capturing the sales too?
Am I correct in understanding that the hidden fields no longer need to be used? (looks like the directions are more up to date that what is in the forum)
Thanks
February 18, 2012 at 5:06 am #42078adminKeymasterWhen someone purchase via the Gravity form’s PayPal button, do they get sent to a “Thank You” page after the purchase? Are you using PayPal PDT? If you are then it is just a matter of using option 1 from this documentation:
February 18, 2012 at 6:11 pm #42079mack417MemberYes, there is a thank you page that they are directed to after completing the paypal transaction. But this is set up through Gravity Forms, not a paypal button.
There is not a actual paypal button in the order form. It is a GF “submit” button. GF has a paypal integration add on, and when you set it up you enable an IPN, and direct it to a page specified by GF – http://mydomain.com/?page=gf_paypal_ipn
So the buyer would fill out the form, click on submit, be taken to paypal to pay, and after payment the buyer is taken to the thank you page and the IPN is triggered to send the completed and paid order form for processing.
The GF button must specify the return URL, just like if I were to create a simple paypal button, so that should work once I set up the PDT token.
But will this cause a problem with eStore integration? I need the affiliate platform to pick up both.
Thanks
February 19, 2012 at 6:29 am #42080adminKeymasterAs long as it it going to PayPal and coming back to your “Thank You” page the affiliate plugin will be able to pick up this transaction if you are following option 1 of this documentation:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate/?p=168
As long as you have step 1 and 3 in place and your customer gets sent to the “Thank You” page it will be able to track the commission.

My issue is this. I am creating a post ONLY when the paypal comes back as sucessful…which is a setting the GF-PayPal plugin/extension.
So the tracking of the sale comes just fine…but the creation of the post is derailed. Is this something the affiliate plugin does?
October 27, 2012 at 10:21 am #42082adminKeymasterNo, the affiliate plugin does not do anything with Post creation. It only tracks the affiliate commission (if there is one) after the payment.
