Tagged: aweber, mail delivery failed, mailchimp
Everything’s going fine with my sales process except that I’m getting emails with the subject line “Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender.” It shows a copy of the message (which includes lots of gibberish, both my “seller” and “test purchaser” email addresses, and the URL [www.mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/paypal.php].
Here’s the clincher: at the end of the message it says “This is an automatic email that is sent to AWeber for member signup purpose,” but I don’t have an account with AWeber, and I have eStore set up for MailChimp!
What am I missing??
Go to WP eStore Settings -> Autoresponder Settings -> MailChimp Settings
and look at the following field:
Use MailChimp AutoResponder
Do you have that field checked? It is likely that you forgot to check that option.
Also, what version of eStore plugin are you using?
No, I don’t have that checked, because I didn’t want to use it. I just want people to get added to the MC list and then get the email from eStore. Is that possible?
Under eStore Settings -> Autoresponder Settings -> MailChimp Settings I just have the API key and the “disable double opt-in” checked, and then I have the list name on the product’s autoresponder settings.
I’m using version 6.6.7
Thanks!
You need to check that checkbox for what you are trying to do. Please review the MailChimp integration documentation again and you will see the mistake:

Simply check that checkbox and eStore will know that you want to use MailChimp and won’t fall back to the AWeber option which is the default.
OK, thanks, that fixed it. That wasn’t clear to me; I thought that “use MailChimp Autoresponder service” meant that I wanted MailChimp to send out an autoresponder.
Thank you for the feedback. I will change the label for that field to be less confusing.
