Free Members Must Confirm Email Address:
If you want to force your free members to confirm their email address before they can register for an account then use this option. Read the full documentation for this feature before using it.
I have selected the above option in settings and for a while after purchasing the plugin, it worked, sending verification emails to members registering for free memberships.
However, it has suddenly stopped working and the verification email is not going out. I have received complaints from many people applying for free membership and then I tested it myself and did not get a verification email.
Effectively, therefore, the option to send a verification email is not working.
When I went to the membership screen and selected “Set status to active and notify” an email went out saying “your account is active and you can log in”. However, no username or password has been created since the verification email was not sent out.
There is no server problem because the same server is sending out the “your account is active and you can log in” email. So emails are going out using the plug in.And it is not a problem of the recipient’s email rejecting or not receiving the email, since I am getting this “your account is active and you can log in email” and so are other people. So the server is sending emails and they are being received by the people affected.
It is just the verification email that is not going out.
One of the forum posts mentioned enabling the debug option in the plug in. I tried that and the debug file is showing that the email is sent.
The only change that has been made to the website setting after installing the plugin is the change from http to https, after activating the SSL certificate in my control panel.
Please help since this is not generating goodwill for my website where free membership is an important feature. I cannot afford to lose goodwill and will greatly appreciate your help to resolve this issue.
Thank you.
June 22, 2018 at 7:43 am #78029adminKeymasterPlease go through the following checklist to make sure all the email values in your “Email Settings” menu of the plugin are proper. For example, you are using a “From Email” address value that is on the domain.
Do you already have SMTP installed on this site?
June 25, 2018 at 12:48 pm #78030chrisdoyleMemberThank you for your reply. Please note:
1. SMTP is not installed on this site
2. I have gone through the checklist in the link you have provided and none of them are relevant, so none of those issues exist
3. As mentioned in the earlier post, the plugin is sending emails when I select “set status to active and notify”. So there is nothing wrong with the server or email settings since the plugin is sending emails when this option is selected. However, the plug in is not sending the verification email. Please provide a solution for this since this is where the problem lies.
Please note that, for the time being, I have turned off the verification email requirement for free membership since I was getting complaints. But, since I purchased the plug in ONLY because it could send verification emails for free membership, I would really like to get what I purchased the plugin for, otherwise it is of no use to me.
I look forward to a speedy resolution of this issue. Thank you.

What were the results of the Email Functionality Tester Plugin that you were instructed to try, in the checklist???
June 25, 2018 at 11:57 pm #78032adminKeymasterAll the emails are sent by the plugin using the same system. If the plugin says that it sent the email in the log file then that means it executed the email sending code (the same code that is used for all emails). Something else is making that particular email to not get to the inbox.
