Hello, I have set up a free download product on my site here: [http://kerrizane.com/onlinecourses/] I have set the “Download Limit Count” to 1 so that people can only click on the link once to access the free download. But I’m finding that as soon as someone receives the free download link and they click on it for the first time, they are being taken to a page that says…
“The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has been used too many times. If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.”
You’ll see the free download opt-in at the top of the page, please opt in so that you can see what I see when testing. I have tested in on 2 different computers using 2 different email addresses. If you do opt-in, please let me know the email address you use so that I can properly delete it after the test.
Please let me know if I have followed the instructions properly. I read the documentation on how to set up a free download, and I thought I followed all of the instructions. My understanding of the “Download Limit Count” is that if I set it to 1, they can only click on the link 1 time, and after that first time, they should then see the page with the message I shared above. But they should not be seeing that message when they click on the link for the first time.
Any guidance to help fix this problem would be very helpful. Thank you.
The defaults are 4 times, or 48 hours, whichever comes first. If you had set the number of hours for the expiry to something unreasonably small, that may explain the problem.
As for the number of permitted clicks, “one” is too few clicks to allow. It should be at least 2 or 3 at a minimum. This is to allow for the possibility of download errors that would legitimately cause the user to try again.
Ok, thank you. That worked.
