Tagged: payment plan, Recurring payment
Miscommunication between client and myself that product should be re-occuring. Have someone who needs to be billed re-occuring, is there a way to force the re-occuring payment?
Which payment gateway are you using?
Paypal
From what I understand, you have a customer that originally made a non-recurring payment, and that you now want to “force” a recurring payment to occur; as in doing it without any action on the customer’s part? PayPal would not allow that to be done, because PayPal considers that to be a new “subscription,” whereas the previous payment was considered by PayPal to be a one-time (paid-in-full) “purchase.”
You have to be very careful when you do a ONE time transaction then later try to make it into a subscription because it can be considered a scam/fraud.
If want to to charge subscription then create a subscription button so the user knows upfront that they are signing up for a recurring payment:
Thank you wzp I know, it was my error in that when I set up the button I didn’t make it subscription and the client and I didn’t realize until it was too late (someone had already purchased). So that now we have to invoice the person who was suppose to be automatically charged which makes my client look bad.
Not as bad as United Airlines… they accidentally sold $5 tickets to some customers; and then got the courts to say the airline didn’t have to honor the tickets.
