Is it possible to define the file name for my customers? I am selling a PDF eBook. But when using stamper the title that appears For my Veggie Bouquet is something like this :

Veggie-Bouquet_4e508b530351e.pdf Which is kinda ugly for my customers. Thank you in advance.

The stamped copy of the file needs to have a unique name so it does not clash. The only way to enforce this is to append a unique ID to the file name so when different customers purchase the same product it doesn’t mix them up.

This practice is common for situations like this (Amazon does this same thing).

The unique hash is added at the end of the file name (example: awesome_ebook_123.pdf). So the file name is still there and shouldn’t really confuse the customer but if you think that your customers will get confused then you can obviously explain this on the “Thank You” page and instruct them to rename the file after they download it to their computer.

The file name needs to be unique in the directory; so another way to avoid the clash is to use the unique ID as a directory name, and put each file (or set of files, since you can stamp more than one at a time) in a different directory.

    Cheers,

The problem with that approach, is that we would DOUBLE the number of inodes required for each stamped file; one for the directory and another for the actual file. Some hosting providers impose inode quotas. There is another possibility… But I need to think about it to determine its viability.
