Hi there, Apologies if this is a stupid question, I have followed all the tutorial videos (really great by the way) the plugin in is installed, thank you page etc. But I am using an existing buy now button and simply need to record when I get a sale via my affiliate and I am assuming I need to add code to the buy now paypal button but not sure how to get this or add to the code? do I need to create a new paypal button? can this button still receive sales from other members of the public and not register a sale under the affiliate?
really hope you can help
November 25, 2013 at 10:44 pm #59211adminKeymasterHi, You can integrate the affiliate plugin with your existing PayPal buttons.
Is your existing PayPal button returning the customer to your “Thank You” page after payment? If it isn’t then edit this PayPal button and specify the return URL as your thank you page (you can edit all your existing button from your PayPal account).
Basically, if you complete step 2 and 3 from the following documentation, you should be good to go:
November 26, 2013 at 10:24 am #59212SeachangeMemberHI there,
Thanks so much for getting back to me, I definitely did steps 2 and 3 and I guess I’m not sure where to go from there…a company have done a video review of my product and will have a link to my page and have asked for a modest commission…so how do I link their URL information to my paypal buy now button…I have created a login through the affiliate platform but I don’t want to create an ‘ad’ as such but rather a link to the buy now button….and regular buyers can still buy without having to create a new button?
sorry to take up your time….love this plugin, just gotta work out this last bit
thanks so much, Sarah
November 26, 2013 at 10:48 am #59213SeachangeMemberCould I have worked it out? would I follow a text link ad in this tutorial? http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate/how-to-create-banners-for-affiliates-to-use-153
I just assumed some information (URL/code?) that identifies the affiliate would have to be included in the buy now paypal code….As I will only pay a commission when a sale has been made
thanks so much!
November 26, 2013 at 12:01 pm #59214SeachangeMemberOK…it’s all working (yay!) But (sigh) as I thought the buy now button isn’t distinguishing between a general sale and a sale coming from the affiliate link…so essentially when anyone makes a purchase my affiliate will still get the commission even when it’s not coming from their site.
Is there a way I can fix this or will I have set up a separate ‘buy online’ page specific for my affiliate as I really don’t want to do that!
Thanks so much! I’m so close!
November 26, 2013 at 11:07 pm #59215adminKeymasterYour following assumption is wrong:
when anyone makes a purchase my affiliate will still get the commission
It will give commission to an affiliate, if that user (who is purchasing from your site) was referred by an affiliate. You are seeing the commissions because you clicked on an affiliate link before the purchase. If you go to another computer (where you didn’t click on an affiliate link) and make a purchase, there will be NO commission from that transaction.
November 27, 2013 at 12:05 am #59216SeachangeMemberYou’re exactly right! I am wrong and I’d like to thank you for putting up with my probably tedious questions!
big fan of this plugin thanks so much!!
