I have eStore and eMember and originally set up eStore to take my subscription payments, then I switched to using the simple Paypal subscription buttons. I have several membership options and now there’s chaos:
One of them doesn’t recur. Another one doens’t get sent a registration link. And I can’t figure out where the problem lies (eStore, eMember, Paypal). Help please.
site: [www.jazzdrummersresource.com]
the monthly registration that recurs correctly is sent this email upon paying:
“From: Jazz Drummer\\\’s Resource <sales@your-domain.com>;
To: REMOVED;
Subject: Thank you for the purchase
Sent: Wed, Feb 27, 2013 5:17:49 PM
Dear REMOVED
Thank you for your purchase!

that doesn’t look like the email in eMember. Notice, there’s also no link to register. I searched eStore for their version of the registration email but it doesn’t look like they have it.
Also, that monthly subscription recurs, but my other membership does not, and it was set up the same way, just with a different ID and button (same paypal button, just a different price).
monthly button: [wp_eStore_buy_now_button id=1]
quarterly button: [wp_eStore_buy_now_button id=2]
It seems as though my quarterly membership gets the correct reg link and gets to create a username, etc, but doesn’t get billed more than once, and the monthly membership gets billed on a recurring basis, but never gets a link to register. My best guess is that somehow one of them is through eStore and one is through emember? But I can’t figure out how to tell. They all seem to be listed in both.
I’m chasing my tail and any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
March 4, 2013 at 11:51 am #54178PeterMemberI can see one obvious mistake you’re making:
You are trying to sell subscriptions but you are using “buy now” shortcodes.
You should instead be using a subscription shortcode for subscription products, eg:
[wp_eStore_subscribe:product_id:1:end]
This post will explain more about subscription type buttons:

March 30, 2013 at 1:23 am #54179JustinvarnesMemberThanks, Peter. That should do the trick. One question: What needs to happen in order for me to get the current members whose memberships SHOULD be recurring to start recurring?
I’m not concerned with missed payments, I’m only concerned with them being regularly billed in the future.

You will have to get them to make a subscription payment. For example, by using the subscription button referenced earlier.
