We have eStore and eMember successfully integrated. We require members to login prior to purchasing. When they purchase a product that is tied to a membership, all works as expected even if their registration email is different than their payment email.
My problem:
I have no way (that I know of) to match up the PayPal/eStore receipts to the member if it doesn’t match their registration email (except to view debug log). I realized this today when checking on a commission (in WP Affiliate) … it shows the member’s buyer email address and I had no way to search for this email address in the eMember records since that email is not tied to the member’s account. If the user’s PayPal and registration had the same First/Last name, all would be good. However, in this case, they did not match so I had no search terms.
Is it possible to make a way to search the eMember database using the PayPal email address, transaction ID, etc. so I can match up payments with members?
August 25, 2014 at 2:29 am #65136adminKeymasterCan you give me an example of why you would need to match/search this?
You can do the search in eStore’s manage customer interface using that email address or transaction ID. eStore will have the member ID (if any) for that record and you can match it that way.
August 25, 2014 at 2:51 am #65137DebraReedMemberThanks for that info … totally missed that field in the WPeStore customer interface.
We sell lifetime memberships with an installment plan period of 4 months. When these payments fail or get skipped, I receive the PayPal receipts but didn’t know how to connect them with the members when the emails were different. The flipside would be if I needed to check the status of a member’s installment plan or reissue a PayPal invoice, I would need a way to match them to the payment. I would prefer not to have to ask the customer what they used to pay for their membership (seems unprofessional). We recently transferred our large membership of about 40,000 members to WPeMember and so there are various other reasons I am checking these records to make sure all is working properly with previously set up subscription payments, installment plans, affiliate records, etc.
Follow up question:
If I have the member’s registration email, how can I go about finding their WPeStore record (if say, their first/last names do not match and they used a different payment email)?
August 25, 2014 at 11:58 pm #65138adminKeymasterAre you making your users log in before they can make a payment?
August 26, 2014 at 1:45 am #65139DebraReedMemberYes, they login before purchasing.
August 27, 2014 at 1:17 am #65140adminKeymasterokay, here is what you do:
1) For every transaction, eStore will also send you an email that corresponds with that membership email.
2) Go to eStore’s manage customers menu and use the details from the estore’s email to pull that transaction data.

I was searching through the forum and found this posting closest to what I need to achieve. I have already setup my eStore and is already able to receive payment through PayPal.
However I am not sure how can I integrate eMember into my eStore such that user has to login before making any purchase. It seems that DebraReed has already achieve it. Could you give me some pointers and point me to the correct direction? I can try to figure out from there.
The video tutorials in the site did not have such an example. I need the user to login before making a purchase because I need more information before I can go ahead with the sale. I am doing a local product delivery in my country. I need the house address and mobile number to contact the user.
Currently I can only see the user PayPal information by using eStore alone. That is why I am thinking if I force the user to register first before making any purchase, I would have a chance to get more information from him.
