that doesn’t costs more than 20 bucks? I have done the markup test thing as explained in your tutorials and the theme has 2 errors. Is it that bad? The theme is also unrelated to my business. I don’t want to kill myself trying to search the holy grail of themes, can pay about 20 bucks.

Can’t I just kill the theme entirely and have a simple page with text ? I really don’t want to spend weeks on that….I tried to setup a similar business a few months ago and nothing was working. Now that I found estore it was all proceeding nicely until this theme thing.

I have setup the store for a test product and the paypal cart etc is all working….do you still recommend that I find a theme with zero errors? but where do I find it? The premium ones for sale on some websites cost up to 200 dollars and I have no way to check for errors anyways

    1. What theme are you currently using, that is giving you errors?

    2. What errors are you referring to, and how did you get them?

Also, please be aware that errors can be introduced by the various plugins that you might use.

If you are after a simple theme then why not use the WordPress’s default twenty ten and twenty eleven themes? They are free, simple, elegant and properly coded.

    thank you all

admin, yes simple is good, I am not after anything flashy, as long as it’s functional. The themes you indicate still give a couple of errors, but maybe they are minor? If you say that they are properly coded then that’s what I’ll use.

Can I get rid of the pictures?

    thanks!

As a former project manager, here are my thoughts on the errors listed; and the WC3 validator:

None of the listed errors, for the TwentyTen theme, are “show stoppers” that will impede or prevent your site from functionally performing its ultimate task; which is to promote, market and sell your products.

You can chase down (investigate) every error the WC3 validator spits out, but you should make management style decisions about which errors to either tolerate or correct. These particular errors fall into the “syntactically preferred” category. Fixing these particular errors is like correcting everyone who overuses “uh,” in their speech; people use it, but nobody ignores them for doing so.

The only exception to this rule would be if you are trying to build a “world class” example of how a site should be built. But if you are not in the site building business, these particular errors can be tolerated.

Web standards, and hence the W3C validator, are fluid and will constantly evolve. What is considered “valid” today may not be in 3 months. You must not let what the validator thinks about your site, divert resources away from your main business goal.

Some of those errors are also HTML5 related. W3C Validator will catch any HTML5 syntax as an error unless you run the scan with the correct document type. As suggested by wzp, you can ignore those errors as they are not show stopper type errors.

guys, I just have one last question about themes. I found a theme that I like slightly better and ran W3C through it, can you have a look at the results below and tell me if it’s suitable? I just want a site with blogs, articles, a few digital downloads for sale (video files and pdfs) and that’s it, nothing fancy. If this theme is no good then I’ll definitely use the twentyten theme and move on. Thanks!!!

thank you wzp. Estore is a kick-butt product. I am loving it. That’s the first time that I have bought an internet marketing product that allows me to learn and move really fast. Just tried to make a squeeze page and I could not believe how simple and easy it was. Thanks again for the good help and have a great day.
