Tagged: PayPal IPN, PayPal PDT
Hi:
I am a little confused about certain settings in Paypal when I am using my WP eStore plugin.
Currently I have 3 types of products:
1. One-off consulting fee (for which I have created a product with a “buy now” button)
2. Recurring consulting fee (for which I have created a product with a “subscription” button)
3. For my video courses, I have used the ‘pay per view” methodology using the “arptp:// instead of http://” solution as you have explained.
For all three types of payments my return URL is the same “thank you page” I have created … it is a general “thanks for your payment” message and also that tells people to look in their email inbox for further details. This URL has been filled into the Return URL field under General Settings of the eStore plugin.
My question is: what should the settings be in Paypal under website preferences?
1. Should Paypal’s Auto Return be on or off? And should the auto return URL be filled? If yes, what should I put in?
2. Should I turn on PDT and put something there?
3. Also is IPN needed? What should I put in there?
I am very confused about what all this Paypal terminology like IPN, PDT and Auto-Return mean and whether it is necessary at all for the WP eStore to work? Could you please help me?
Regards,
Shobha Ponnappa
