WordPress 3.4.2
Roots theme 5.1.0
NextGen Gallery 1.9.5 (not sure if this is relevant)
WP eStore 6.7.5
I’m selling physical products, not downloads.
When I try to add a thumbnail image (Additional Product Details > Thumbnail Image > Upload File button), the image uploads fine and no errors are generated. The URL to the thumbnail looks like the one below:
If I copy/paste that URL into a browser, it shows the image, but the thumbnail for my products in the WP eStore don’t work. They just shows a missing image icon.
When clicked, the large size image shows up fine. (Note: These are demo images for store setup only. The thumbnails that are showing are ones that I entered the path to the image manually.)
You can see the problem here (on the product “alphabunch”). [http://tinyurl.com/8lztfus]
Is there something I can set to either force WP eStore to use a regular path here or to get these thumbnails to show up properly?
Thanks!
October 9, 2012 at 7:23 pm #50224terryelstonMemberNot sure if this will help or not? When my images were not appearing it was because they were not set in the gallery as thumbnails. This has nothing to do with the images in the store. You have to use pages/posts to set the image in and then set the picture as a thumbnail.
October 10, 2012 at 4:49 am #50225adminKeymaster@danzo, The following is not a valid URL of an image:
When you upload an image, it should have an URL like the following:
Please enter the correct image URL in the field and then the plugin will be able to recognize that correctly.
October 10, 2012 at 5:09 pm #50226danzoMemberI know that’s not a valid URL…that’s the problem! I click the button to add an image and that’s what gets entered into the field. I didn’t type that URL in, that’s what is being entered in for me!
The questions are “Why?” and “How do I fix it?”
I know I could manually enter each thumbnail image path in that field, but I was hoping I wouldn’t have to.
October 11, 2012 at 1:36 am #50227adminKeymasterTwo possible causes are:
1) The Javascript file of the eStore plugin got messed up a little. Please load a fresh copy of the plugin:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
2) Another plugin or the theme you are using has some poorly written Javascript code that is interfering. Do the following test to identify the source:

March 30, 2013 at 9:01 am #50228lucvryensMemberI don’t know why my reply to this post I entered yesterday disappeared but here it is again.
I have a similar problem but the difference is that my website is not online yet but under xampp on my computer where I have WordPress 3.5, Elegant Themes Estore theme and T&T Estore plugin installed. I’m trying to build a website to sell paintings (one of each). Of course I would like to add a thumbnail next to the product on the product page but when I try to upload it from my picture folder to my product page, I also get the “missing” icon for the picture.
The link says “http://localhost/wordpress/?attachment id=433”. When I enter this link on my ie browser, I get to see the picture on a “media”. How can I make it work so that the picture shows on the product page? Is it an ET Estore related problem?
March 30, 2013 at 11:19 pm #50229wpCommerceModeratorHi, you need to use the actual URL of the image not the attachment URL. When you insert an image to a post/page you need to make sure that the
Link To
option is set toMedia File
. It’s under theATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS
of the image (on the same column as theInsert into Page
buttton).March 30, 2013 at 11:22 pm #50230adminKeymasterWe can’t troubleshoot localhost installation because we can’t see what it is that you are doing. However, I will try to give you a few pointers and hopefully one of theme will help:
Don’t use the “attachement URL” as the product image URL (they are not the same). Click on the image that you see when you go to the attachment page and it will show you the image just by itself in the browser (take note of the URL and that is the image URL). This URL value should look something like the following (see how there is the extension of the image in there):
....../wp-content/upload/01/02/my-image.jpg
You can also get the URL of an image that you uploaded to your media library by doing the following:
1) Go to your media librar
2) Click edit for the image in question
3) Look under the “File URL” field (this is URL value is the image URL)
It is best if you use the “upload” button next to the “product image URL” field which does everything for you and you don’t have to worry about anything else.
Now, if you have an issue where the eStore theme is not showing the thumbnail then that will be a slightly different issue which the eStore theme author will be able to help. If I could see the webpage in question I could confirm where it is coming from but I can’t see your website so I am having to guess blindly.
April 4, 2013 at 7:39 am #50231lucvryensMemberThank you very much for your excellent reply. I got my thumbnails showing on the product page as it should. I guess I should upload the website, even unfinished to a webserver. Can you advise me on a good web server hosting company with a small yearly fee? The reason I’m bringing this up now is that I realized that probably all my links (to pages, media, etc…) will be wrong and the longer I wait, the more extra work I would have to do.
Thanks again,
Luc
April 4, 2013 at 10:26 pm #50232adminKeymasterHi Luc, This post should help with finding a cheap and reliable hosting provider:
December 11, 2013 at 12:28 pm #50233spotsMemberHi I seem to have the same issue as above on [http://kilkennyactivitycentre.ie/products/]
can you help please .
I’m selling physical products, not downloads.

Dave
December 11, 2013 at 10:24 pm #50234adminKeymasterHi Dave, I can’t seem to view your products page (it ask for a login). Can you share test login credentials so I can take a look?
April 28, 2014 at 7:21 pm #50235wploveSpectatorI had the exact same problem as Dave. I just resolved it by unchecking the “Enable Smart Thumbnails” option. Seems like there might be bug with that.
April 29, 2014 at 3:47 am #50236adminKeymasterThat means the smart thumbnail script is having difficulty running on your site. Are you using external image URLs?
May 5, 2014 at 8:04 pm #50237wploveSpectatorI don’t think so. All my image thumbnail url’s are pulled from WP Media files that have been uploaded to the site.
