Hello,
I would like to setup subscription products through Stripe that have a startup cost associated with them. For example, a subscription which costs $100 at checkout and $50 monthly after that.
Stripe’s API clearly enables this: https://support.stripe.com/questions/subscription-setup-fees
I had thought that this would be possible in eStore by setting a paid trial period, but apparently that’s not supported by WP eStore: https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-payment-gateway-bundle-stripe-subscription-setup-2764
Is there any viable workaround for this? If not, could I kindly request that you add this to your backlog? It wouldn’t hurt if you made it a priority
Thanks a lot,
Mikael
October 9, 2015 at 11:59 pm #71589adminKeymasterWe will add an option for the “startup cost” feature of stripe. Should have something ready within a week (hopefully).

October 30, 2015 at 4:13 pm #71591bentley74MemberI second this request! This is critical for one of my membership products.
That being said…
I recently installed the plugin (within the last week) and set up a button using the usual trial payment option as I normally would.
When I clicked through and ended up on what would be the payment page it DID seem to be indicating that there was a one-time payment + a different monthly payment.
Does this mean you have added the update already?
Thanks
November 2, 2015 at 12:46 pm #71592bentley74MemberCan someone provide an update for this feature, please? Has it been added now – or is it still a work-in-progress?
As mentioned, it LOOKED like it was working (ie on checkout page it showed the initial payment + the future monthly payments). But I have not allowed any purchases to go through yet.
Thanks
November 2, 2015 at 11:20 pm #71593wpCommerceModerator@bentley74, This feature has not been added to the plugin. How did you configure the subscription section of your product?
November 3, 2015 at 9:39 pm #71594bentley74MemberI configured it in the usual way (as I would for a Paypal subscription). The initial payment is $47 – I just added this as the trial amount – and then $4.97/mo. On the Stripe checkout page it seemed to indicate that this is how it would be charged.
Any plans to incorporate BrainTree recurring payments?
I really need to get something aside from Paypal in place.
Also – are you still planning to add something for Stripe (as mentioned above)?
November 4, 2015 at 2:29 am #71595wpCommerceModeratorStripe only offers a free trial option at the moment.
Since the trial amount field is already in use we can’t really replace it to accept a startup fee. It will also make things complicated when they finally introduce a paid trial option like the other gateways have. So we have decided not to add this feature.
We do have plans to integrate with Braintree recurring payments.
